But if you ban a dog from home life then all the pitbulls will be fighting dogs. I have had a pitbull and had no incident it is a matter of training the dog. You can only know so much about a dog by its breed. Its personality is really developed by its owners.
Take a rottweiler for instance. They are big, they have sharp teeth and the instinct to not let go after biting also. But rottweilers are generally known by people who encounter them in a home to be sweet, loving, and protective dogs.
And why should we chose which animals go extinct. Polar bears are dangerous if you get them mad. Should we kill them all off?

I was offended by the post about can't you choose another?
So people chose which animals live and die now?
and the offer your arm up to the dog, if you aggervate a dog it will get angry. Just because a dog is stronger than another is not a good reason to ban it

The reason some people want to ban pit bulls is because some irresponsible owners have trained them to fight and then these dogs are dangerous. Other irresponsible owners tether them all day and never allow them to interact with people. Tethering any dog and ignoring their need for socialization will result in a dog that does not know how to act around people. You will note that the key words are irresponsible owners. Responsible owners make sure that their dogs are trained from puppy-hood on to adulthood. They make sure their dogs are properly socialized. They exercise their dogs on a regular schedule and walk them frequently. They never leave their dog tethered and unsupervised. A responsible owner has a wonderful dog who at the worse will kiss you all over your face.

Apparently They Are Dangerous.
But EVERY Dog Can Be Dangerous.
I'm Sure There Are Lovely Pitbulls Out There,
I Don't Think They Should Ban Them Or Let Their Kind Die Out.
It's SELFISH

Because of these so called " attacks " happening . The media makes them look like there bad dogs and we the people try to make them banned . In Denver , they say that the breed ban is definately a failure . There are more pit bulls in the city then there were when they didnt have the breed ban . I just think its stupid and ridiculous because nobody can ban a breed of dog from exsistence . They could try but it would more than likely fail . Ban the deed , not the breed .

In dog fighting, two dogs are put into a pit or walled ring and set to fight each other until one is disabled or dead. Pitbulls were specifically bred for power and aggression so they would be an effective fighting dog. Consequently, many are easily agitated, difficult to control and almost impossible to stop once they attack. There have been several deaths from Pitbull attacks.

because people are ignorant
they think that since some pitbull owners are irresponsible and dont provide appropriate socialization, dont train theyre dog or dont keep it on a leash with a muzzle all pitbulls are going to kill someone
while pitbulls ARE dogs that can be more aggresive than other dogs it doesnt mean they are as bad as everyone stereotypes them to be
other dogs can be just as vicious

Because some pitbulls are raised as fighting dogs and are very dangerous. On the other hand, some pitbulls are very sweet. It a matter of lawsuits.

I almost hate thinkin' about it, but we got a lovely 4 week old pitbull from the pound...yes, 4 weeks old. We raised her with love and she gave full love to us in return. But she would go after anyone in the neighborhood if she got loose from our yard. We were afraid she would end up hurting someone, maybe a child. She was only a year old when we put her to sleep. We couldn't risk letting someone else adopt her. We very, very, much loved that little dog...........

because people refuse to believe that pits are not born with the want or need to be harmful to humans
they are made that way by humans
its our fault
and because THOSE people would rather ban the breed than put forth the energy and effort that is needed to keep these dogs out of homes that will make them that way.
they are lazy and shallow and selfish
that's my opinion

pitbulls are wonderful dogs, but in many cases they are trained to be violent and dangerous. also because of inbreeding the bloodline suffers and can cause a dog to act dangerous.

Too many of them are used for fighting. Also many people use them for a tough image. This is also unhealthy and does nothing to promote the acceptance of the breed by more civil people. If they were banned, would it really be that big a loss? There are several hundred breeds. Can't you choose another?
