Hmm, I don't see how arching your back helps you to be shorter. That makes me think it's not so much the height difference, it's the way he leads you and you respond to his lead. What is your heigt difference anyway? If it is only a couple of inches than you can overcome this by learnig proper way of spinning. If you're a good foot taller than him there is nothing you can do - either avoid underarm turns (there are plenty of other ways you can can turn or spin) or find a different partner.

Arching of the back usually happens when he leads you before you put your weigh on the foot. Either he's too early with the lead or you're too late getting your weight on the foot. Same thing happens if he's taller, but it tends to feel like he's tearing your shoulder off. It is also possible that you're too far away from each other when he turns you.

hmm.Well unfortunatly im assuming you cant change your partner to someone a bit taller however since your 5'7 to 5'10 you must have beautifully long legs, Those long legs are hardto dance with in the first place but YOU can make it happen. Be graceful and try to get him to lead a little bit, by doing that it shoud give you a chance to shine and allow your height diffrence to be diminished by the grace. By just believing that you look graceful with your partner you will look it.
I also dont know why your arching your back, try to not arch and get him to lead that should take care of it all.

i'm previous, fat, off style, and characteristic skinny palms, and that i have executed lifts with an significant different weighing over sixty 5 kg. some capacity enables, yet good mechanics and technique make a distinction.
