Lots of wind too - cold rain that hits you hard and makes it difficult to see and drive.

I wouldn't plan on doing anything outside, but you can likely still do things inside (go places) if you have rain gear and do your hair in a way that won't get messed up by the wind and water.

It's also a good day to stay home, watch movies and eat chowder.

it depends on how close... cape cod if the projections are correct will get absolutely hammered. in most cases noreasters are stronger than normal hurricanes from dc to nova scotia. just hope that it goes further. where ever it hits will get hammered. Nova scotia ... 90 mph sustained expected. boston around 40 sustained at worst if good around 60 if bad storm

Yeah, I know how you feel. All the news on TV and especially the Weather Channel are very disappointed the USA didn't have any hurricanes this year. This storm they are praying it damages the coast of the USA.
They need their dummies to stand in the rain and tell us it's....uh....raining.

You are going to catch the edge of a hurricane. It should be nothing more than a lot of wind, and a TON or rain.

if you dont mind getting drenched you can go out, just make sure the roads are not flooded , if you cant see how deep ,turn around dont drown. pull over if you can not see. listen to tv / radio/online weather alerts for your area....better yet stay indoors read a good book and eat chocolate :)
