I find Superantispyware to be the best on-demand antispy scanner (IMO):

If you're willing to pay, eset's Nod32 antivirus is excellent and pretty effective on spyware as well . Much less of a resource hog than Norton.
For a free option, I've used Avast antivirus for a couple of years along will Spybot Search & Destroy.

try avira www.free-av.com its awesome and has better detection
than even avast and avast is good, also dont bother with avg.
