i just want to respond to Courtney N,
i'm under the impression that a vaccine is supposed to stop children from catching these diseases from other third world children that are comming into our country like mexican children.
so, what is the point of a vaccine if it cannot stop children from getting the disease from another child?

School,
for those of you who say your children cannot get into school if they aren't vaccinated is not true, the neighbors have children in school without vaccinations. there is a waiver the school will not want to tell you about, my neighbor says the schools get paid extra for every child attending their school that is vaccinated. and also she says she had to fight to get the waiver.

Vaccines generally work, but nothing in medicine is foolproof. The reason to use any vaccination is to attempt to coerce the body into creating antibodies against different diseases. The problem is that bacteria which cause the problems can mutate and beat the vaccine. I was 15 when I received my third MMR (Measles mumps rubella) vaccination and I was also 15 when I was hospitalized and quarantined for 11 days with the mumps (not related to getting the vaccine). My children have received many, but not all recommended vaccines for them; they received what my wife and I felt comfortable with them getting and nothing more. Never do anything you uncomfortable with until you research the subject for yourself. If you are unsure always check cdc.gov and fda.gov for additional info.

Personally, I am not going to vaccinate. There is mercury, formaldehyde, lead, and other toxic substances in the shots. These things can cause cancer, and I do not think it is worth the risk. I work at a child care center, I am a preschool teacher. There are some kids that are unvaccinated, and honestly they get sick less then the vaccinated kids. The vaccines tend to weaken the immune system, from the toxic substances. It is your choice what you do, but I will be signing a waiver for my children. I would rather take the chance of my child getting a temporary disease , then poisoning them with toxic metals, and chemicals. Just do your research, and know that you do have a choice. They do not need them to enter school, because there are religious, medical, and philosophical exemptions in most states.

For me, I am going through this right now. My son is up for his 2 month shots on Wednesday and I am worried! I know we are going to vaccinate b.c I dont want him getting a disease that is life threatening. We have decided to get all the shots when he is supposed to b/c his pediatrician has assured me things will be ok. its not a question for us whether or not to vaccinate because we are going to, its if we should spread them out. He will also need all his shots for school. As for the whole autism thing, there is no proven evidence the shots are what is causing this. Its a very controversial topic, so you will be getting some very heated answers.

I work with babies and toddlers and all the training I have had makes me think it's important to have them. There is a reason we have these vaccinations, and they have saved many childrens lives from diseases that are now starting to come back.
I try not to be judgemental of those parents who have chosen not to have their children receive them, because I know they have their best intentions in mind and are doing what they believe is best. I got my daughter all her shots, and the baby I'm pregnant with will get them too.

There are many airborne vaccinations that if you do not vaccinate your child for, you are putting other people's children at risk. Things like measles and mumps still exist today and if an unvaccinated child comes to school with the disease he can infect children who were vaccinated. It is socially irresponsible to not vaccinate your children.

Follow this link. It is about how one girl traveling abroad infected 34 people with measles. No one died but children had to be hospitalized. Two of the infected children had been vaccinated. It does happen, vaccinations are no guarantee but if that girl had been vaccinated before she left, no one would have gotten sick.

Being that my children are immunized, I'm glad that I don't have to be concerned about them coming down with certain illnesses that can have serious complications. Also, I'm glad that they are vaccinated so that they won't spread illness to kids who aren't.
I'm keeping my kids healthy. :)
I love the rants and raves about vaccines being filled with poisons, they make me laugh. We were vaccinated as children, and all was well. I intend to keep up with my kids' vaccinations because I care about them. :)

For babies, I definetly think they should be vaccinated... There is a sign in my daughter's dr's office that says .. "Vaccinate before it's too late." .... Although vaccinations aren't 100% effective in some children, it's still good to have them.....I make sure my daughter gets her shots here every time she is up for one....and also, in schools here in Indiana, you have to be up to date with your shots before you can continue the next school year... My senior year (I graduated in 06) I had to get my Hep. B shot as I hadn't had it yet... So, in my opinion, yes..we should all be vaccinated!.....Better safe than sorry!
