Last night when I came home from work, I noticed my betta's fins were like almost gone. Not totally but they aren't the long flowing fins they were. and I swear two days ago when I fed him his fins were fine. I bought maracyn-2 and did a 100% change in the water, will he be ok? (his name's Paco.) He's swimming fine and is as active as he always is. Any suggestions on how to optimize his chances at recovery? I'm so worried about him, I feel like a bad owner.

Yeah, I have a heater and a filter, the water is 78 degrees give or take a couple of degrees.
I bought some salt too and I added that to the water. Should I change all of the water from the tank twice a week or do like half a change twice a week?

The cleaner you keep your tank, the more quickly Paco will recover, and the less likely he is to get secondary infections (though the Maracyn 2 should keep any other bacteria out as well). For the next two weeks, clean the tank twice a week to prevent any further issues. I assume you have a filter and heater in the tank (if you don't, that is a major reason your fish isn't doing so well). Take the carbon out of the filter (carbon absorbs medicines) and let it run as you normally would. Once Paco is over his little fin rot, be sure to clean the tank once a week (if he is in a bowl, clean it twice a week). Contact me if you have any questions.

Soop and kylie are 100% correct
the only thing i would like to add is, please change only about 25-50% max twice a week since you have him in a filtered and heated tank

Hope that helps
Good luck

I agree with soop 100%

I just would like to add if you don't already use aquarium salt now is a good time to start, 1/2teaspoon per gallon dissolve fully before adding the fish or adding to the tank.
