Have one in my home and one in the cabin out in the woods. And, I just love them -- but I also have a large enough kitchen at home to accommodate one, and in the cabin, it replaces faucets and an electric pump. Both are hooked up to a rain-water reclamation system. I have a rustic, country style home, and the pump is the finishing decorative (and functional) touch to a green-enhanced old-fashioned country kitchen. (I would think they would look somewhat dumb in a retro-50s kitchen, for example).

Even if they weren't hooked up to water reclamation and just a holding tank, I would like one anyway. Using the hand pump does eliminate a LOT of running water waste (we pay for water, and I do see the savings), and kids and visitors just love using it. I switch arms, because they do get a nice workout from the pump.

If I could go out to the home improvement store to get one, I would like to see a smaller one, perhaps with a stainless finish for today's more modern kitchen, rather than just the ones that are pretty much designed for outdoor wells/systems.

Would you actually have to hand pump to get the water flowing? If yes, then that sounds like too much work for me. If it just looks antique but flows instantly, then it sounds like a neat idea that people who have an antique looking homes would want. I personally am not into that decor.

I think it would be really interesting. It would make getting water a much more active task, something you actually feel some level of accomlishment in once you use it .

You could buy them at "Tractor supply" for $34.00 but, why in the world would you want one in your home.
