Girly car? Not if you're one of Arnold's "girly men". LOL!
Seriously, cars that tend to be liked/driven by women are things like VW Beetle, Toyota Celica...etc
But then again, there're women who swear by their pickup truck!
I think the Z3 is a great BMW, and in my opinion, nicer looking than the Z4. I can't explain it, it's just the design. But I don't feel neither are necessarily "girly cars" just because they are small roadsters. Here's why...
People who buy the Z3/Z4 are people who love to drive and feel the road; these cars give a firmer ride than other cars. The steering wheel gives excellent feedback and feels heavier than most cars. The exhaust notes are also tuned to give a throatier sound (I know at least in the Z4).
Women generally (and I'm making a general statement of course) prefer a softer more comfortable riding car if they can afford it. So for the price of a Z3 3.0 back then (2001 @ $38,545 base MSRP), the car that is at the same price range that is probably more favored by the ladies (but not necessarily "girly") could be an RX300, Mercedes-Benz C class, Infinity I30, and many other choices. But there're of course exceptions... and those are the kind of women I like!
If you're worried about this, dress the car up with a nice set of 18" wheels, M-kit and you should be all set.

No, a BMW Z3 is not a girly car.
I think the Z3 is a great car for guys or girls who like design, speed, and challenging roads.
The first Z3 (1999) was a 1.8 L slow car, and not considered to be made for a guy who wants to drive fast.
Many people think all Z3's are like the first year creation which was slow, and don't know that 10 years followed with powerful fast engines to be driven hard.
Girly cars are VW's and Miatas

The best roadster for the money is the Mazda MX5 Miata. Anyone who says that car is for posers or 'girly' knows nothing about cars. It's not the fastest vehicle on the road, but it's so much fun, it's so pure and it's everything a roadster should be and nothing it shouldn't. The bonus is that is is so reliable and cheap to maintain. Second choice would be a Honda S2000, but they are overpriced. Third choice would be a Porsche Boxster, but again - way overpriced. Fourth choice would be a Nissan Z Roadster. Fifth choice would be the BMW Z4. Sixth choice would be the BMW Z3 2.8 Seventh choice would be the MR-2.

just because it is a 2 seat roadster, many people are quick to assume that it is a feminine car. the z3 has masculine lines and shapes to it unlike its successor the z4. the z4 is a much more feminine car than the z3. if you want to look at another roadster, try the honda s2000 or the toyota mr2. if you have the time and money, try out a porsche boxster. it is probably the closest to the z3 in comparison, along with the mercedes benz slk, but that is seen as a feminine car more than the z3.

Oh not that bad boy. That's a really manly car. A buddy of mine has a Z3, thats pretty much guy only. Try a Jetta, those are always girly, every girl i know drives a Jetta. Or try a Lexus IS, or a BMW X3. Those might be good.

I have to agree with snowie. Though I prefer the Z4 in terms of appearance and performance. Both are great cars and driven by both men and women though you usually see more men driving 3 and 5 series. Though I tend to see a lot of doctors and professionals driving Z3 and Z4, men of course.

Ok...here is the deal. The Z3 is a fine automobile if it has an '///M' logo on it. Otherwise you are a woman. The standard Z3 is pretty much a sissy mobile. Its hard for me to say because I love BMWs so much, but the facts are the facts. Its like a Miata...have you ever seen anyone other than women and gay men in them? No. So, in summary, if you have a Z3 you better have 2 sets of lips.

No way is that a girly car, specially cause its stick shift, not many girls know how to use stick shift, in a car anyways, I've only seen guys driving that car, its a pretty sweet ride looks like its fun to drive too.
