This is a duo core processor running at an effective speed of 2GHz.

The 1 GHz is NOT the memory as someone stated. Memory can have a MHz or GHz rating only as applies to the speed of the chips, it has nothing to do with usable size of the memory.

The 448Mb of RAM is just that - the RAM or memory chips in the machine. IF you are running Vista, that is not a lot of memory, IF you are running Xp, it will suffice as long as you are not gaming or doing a lot of multi-tasking.

The CPU is rated 2G which with it's core duo properties has an effective speed of 4GHz.
