Far be it from me to indulge in a hasty generalization but . . .
I've been fortunate enough to have been able to have visited France on four separate occasions.
The first time, I went (of course) to Paris. It was my experience that Parisians are generally rude to foreigners, especially to American who don't speak French. There were considerate Parisians, too, of course, but I've been to many countries, and the percentage of rude Parisians was the highest I've ever encountered.
Let me quickly add, however, that on my other three trips to France, I stayed away from Paris. In the rest of France, I found a different situation entirely. The French (outside of Paris) are generally very hospitable and polite.

Not all of them are rude, so you should never assume they are. If you travel abroad a bit, you'll probably find that the most obnoxious and rude tourists are either Americans or French. These are a special group of people who travel around the world trying to prove to themselves that their country, culture and way of life are so much better than anyone else's. Fortunately most people are not like this, but those who are really stick out in a crowd and you can't help but notice them.
Edit: I have never had any problems in Quebec, probably because I don't have a rotten attitude when I go there. Those rude people are very inflexible and cannot open themselves up to any other culture, people or way of life.

Ok. This is how it works. French people are not rude. Just like the rest of the Europeans though they are very straight forward. But they have manners, they are just accustomed to speak their mind so they won't be fake with you and if you ask them how they like your dress, if they don't, they'll tell you it is ugly. But they won't fart or burp in front of you or show up at your house empty handed. Now Americans are fake - they'll never say anything mean (in general). Americans are considered to be rude by Europeans as they are obnoxious and loud.

you cant really say that ALL french people are rude because calling a person rude or mean is basically just all opinionated and some other people may think differently. Also every1 is different so u cant exactly make that a fact

to American's yes....they are just a little rude to the rest of the Europe. They have a "God" complex...they think b/c of their history they are better than anyone else (Basically they have been the top ruling country in Europe during the Middle Ages....also they were the first state of the Roman Empire to be granted a country, Gaul, when the Roman Empire was declining...this mean that the Roman Empire released them from their state and declared them a free country onto themselves which was absolutely unheard of....once the Roman's conquered you land it was theirs) So this is where their arrogance comes from....they especially hate American's b/c we had to bail their @sses out in WWII.

I think that the entirety of mankind has the capacity to be rude in some situations. It has been my experience (limited as it is) that French people just tend to speak their minds more and don't care what other people think of that, and sometimes that may come off as being rude. They are just less inhibited. I don't think that everyone from France is inherently rude.

It just depends on the person you have to realize that Americans aren't very popular people in other countries. I have known a lot of very nice French people and it all veriers from person to person because look at our society...... there are a lot of people that live her that would take a shot at anyone from not around here... I have seen it happen to people who are right next to me....
