If you had asked me that question back in the middle of august I would of said "NO" that I woujld panick and run.
But now........In august me, my 4 kids and my friends 3 kids were coming back from Birmingham Carnival, when we witnessed a man getting crushed between a parked car and another car (the driver started engine while car was in gear)
Some how I manged to keep all the 7 kids calm, the driver calm, and the accident victim calm, and call an ambulance. I stayed with the guy, keeping him warm, calm and awake etc...When the ambluance came, they took over and I went home and went to bed and slept like a baby.
I was told weeks later the man was ok, and recovered.

I had a class about the emergency response of people and how some people freeze and some people react.
I think if there was an emergency and I was the only other person around to help I would do something but I fear that it other people were around I would be more incline to step back and let someone how may actually know what they were doing, or how to handle the situation handle the situation. If no one was stepping up fast enough, or safely enough I would then jump in.

I am awesome in emergency situations! When my daughter was almost 4, her father was taking care of her(I was inside taking a shower) and she ran into the street right into a moving car & got slammed back to the sidewalk. Everyone was going crazy yelling & screaming so I took charge of the situation & calmed her down enough so she could be checked out by the paramedics. It turned out that she had a broken collarbone. That was one day that I was proud to say I was just like my Mom!!

Not in every emergency e.g. somebody sinking(I cannot swim). But well I can try my hand in any emergency situation and be of some help at least.l At least I would not just be frozen when facing an emergency e.g. a road accident, a fire but woud give and call for help from the proper quarters.e.g. police, ambulance.

depends on the situation, lost in the woods, yes, I am the guy you want to be lost with, I have even taught myself to start a fire on the scenario of having to run from the house with nothing but my under ware, (spinning a stick with a bow technique, using cedar bark fibers for the string, gathering the bark fibers by cutting with the broken side of a rock) this is a little extreme, but I would rather know how to do it and never need to than need to and never know how. first aid I'm a little weak on, although I could stop a person from bleeding to death, a hemoraging limb will probably be lost if I'm the one treating it, but that's still better than losing the life.

Depends on the type of emergency. I can do the basics but wouldn't want to do CPR or anything as serious as that. But I could cope in a little emergency. You could have been a bit more specific.

Yes. I am a meat cutter, and when I was training at my first food lion, My boss cut two of his fingers off on the meat saw. I was only 19 years old, but I caught him before he hit the floor, and I was able to get the manager to call 911. After the manager came back to help, I was able to pick up his fingers and put them on ice, in a Dixie cup, and the doctors were able to reattach the fingers at WVU hospital. I kept my cool but after it was all over, I fell all to pieces.

I couldn't honestly say as I've never dealt with an emergency even though I've passed my first aid twice, but I always carry my mobile so I'd dial 999 at the very least :)

It's a funny thing. I tend to panic pretty easily over unimportant stuff. But, in a true emergency (when everyone around me is panicking) I'm the only one who can handle it, and knows what to do. I think it's because my maternal/nurturing instincts kick-in and I don't have to think about what to do ... I just do.
