...caring...but i'm getting loads of stick from my mates and even some of my family...am i really doing such a bad thing ??? any advice please ???

You need to watch the movie, "Not without My Daughter", with Sally Field in it. It's based on a true story, and it is a warning tale to American women who make the mistake of dating or marrying a Muslim man. You will have no rights whatsoever. You will become the property of your husband, and you will be treated like cattle. If your boyfriend doesn't act like this now, he will. Americanized Muslim men are under great pressure from their families to follow Muslim laws and customs, regardless of what American laws say. In the movie, the woman's husband seemed only a "nominal" or liberal Muslim, and they seemed to have a pretty normal American life. But then he decided he wanted to go to Iran to see his family, and she was trapped from then on. Once he got there, his family kept him there, and his wife and his daughter. She was not allowed to leave, and her daughter had to go to a Muslim school. The wife was constantly watched 24/7 by "Big Brother" the whole time she was there. Her husband became more and more brainwashed by his family, and he eventually turned against her. She finally found a way to escape with her daughter into Turkey.
I would say stay away from this guy. You are asking for terrible trouble in the future.

People are always afraid of what they don't know or understand. Unfortunately the mass media has done nothing but make the general public's knowledge of Islam worse. They overgeneralize saying that "Islamic terrorists, extremists, etc.." and it scares people.
You are not doing a bad thing at all. Tell them to shove their unasked for opinions up their *** and to jog off.

nothing will go wrong if you are not serious. talk about marriage and you will never see him again. he would want to marry a muslim girl from his culture finally.
