I've been saying that for years on my side of the pond. The largest generation ever born in the States wound up having one of the lowest reproductive rates in U.S. history. You don't need an advanced degree in mathematics or (in the case of your nation) serve as Chancellor of the Exchequer to know the numbers don't add up for sustainability of any pension scheme.
We in the States need mass immigration on the order of what we experienced in the decades following our War Between the States. A conflict which killed or maimed a lot of American males who might have fathered the next generation.

This is a two tier problem. 1st the ageing population: More and more people are living much longer which is putting an economic strain on an already stretched welfare system. Those who are paying into private pension funds are seeing as much as 40% of their investment being used to prop up existing pensions. The civil service pension is free for those drawing it but it is the tax payer footing the bill. The entire pension system is a farce and has been exposed as one since the global economics began to crack. 2nd the immigration bill was brought in to help boost the economic shortfall in a long term plan. Yet statistics show that since New Labour coming to power very little benefit has been detected by immigration. A number of polls conducted give various answers but the most generous is that since coming to the UK in 1997 the average immigrant contributes 54 pence a week. Having said all of this I am not incitng that the immigrant is at fault. They after all just want a better standard of living and this country provides that. We must lay the blame where it belongs and that is with the politicians.

Yes and a lot of people in this Country won't work but complain when others will but I believe it is largely to do with the drop in birthrate and I'm not aware of any politician admitting this. The Pope has been at it recently too, dictating to Europe and telling them to 'stop being selfish' and reproduce more! There is no money in the kitty for pensions and they have to get help where they can... I have no problem with any race just terrorists who are allowed to live in this Country but that is another matter...
Personally, I have three children who I adore but feel deeply concerned for any one considering bringing children into this world...... The love and worry never ends but this world will because of how we treat it........ :(

That's a cyclical arguement. Because then the immigrants will age and require public retirement support. Additionally, immigrants will reach the retirement age with less years paying taxes than a native citizen. Therefore, the net earnings, in the new country, over the lifetime of a immigrant is less than that of a native citizen. The only way that is a solution is to then send the immigrants back to their homeland when they reach retirement age.

My god! No wonder this country is in such a mess. You truly beleive that? If that rubbish were true dont you just think that these gallant foreigner are going to age then? So then what do we do import the rest of Europe or Africa over here to help pay for their pension, then what as they age........ See the problem ! no well you would'nt would you. I will have to explain it more simply. The foreigner who comes to work here normally does a low paid job, paying little in tax, say £50 a week, now he/she will need accomodation costing a min of £80k to be provided for life. He/she will want NHS care cost astronomical , will normally claim council tax, working tax credits, child tax credits an eventual pension, often special one to one help with help if kids non english speaking, taking up another house, room onour overcrowded roads, landfill room, gods knows how much child allowance, schooling costs and when their kids get old enough to rebell as many foreigners kids do (because they loose respect for their parents for doing menial jobs) they normally don't share the same work ethic and turn to crime. OUR GOVERNMENT IS GOING TO HAVE TO STRETCH THAT MEASELY £50 TAX THAT POLISKY PAYS IN EACH WEEK TO COVER HIS EXPENSES LET ALONE THE LITTLE OLD LADY HE KINDLY CAME HERE TO HELP SUPPORT. YOU i am sure will dismiss all this as rantings of a racist, thats up to you but please try looking at the reality.

I think you need to be culled, my parents both worked paid taxes and more than likely contributed to your child benefit, unfortunately my father died before pension age so didn't get anything back which he paid into, my mother is still with us at 83 and yes she gets pension, she damn well deserves it so if you added up all they paid into with interest it won't be costing the likes of you anything oh and don't forget some pensioners lost husbands in WW2 that gave up their lives for the likes of you.

Explain this to my son and many other young men in our town that cannot get any work. This could be because the agencies are full of immigrants (Polish) on their books. Also, warehouses here, who laid off the English workers and rehired only Polish workers to fill the vacancies. Tesco's is the main culprit - they hire temporary workers with a view to fulltime work, who gets the permanent contracts???? NOT THE ENGLISH MEN WHO NEED THE WORK. How is that right?

Yes, we did realise.
The problem is that a sizeable number of the immigrants have realised that our social welfare system is a cushy way to never have to work. And that is a drain on the countrys' funds too.
So what do we do, allow even more in?
No, what we should do is repatriate anyone who refuses to make a valid contribution to the country. And for our own citizens, make them work if they are able to. The Social Security system is a safety net, NOT a guaranteed lifestyle of handouts. THATS the problem with Britain, not immigration in iteself.
