Iran has publicly declared that the U.S. is an enemy of its state. They have declared there will be no peace in the middle East until Israel is wiped off the map.
When it comes to people being brainwashed, I think you would have the best example of this circumstance by looking in the mirror.
We don't need the 'jewish/zionist controlled Media' to get a Negative view, when you have Achmadinajad himself coming to th e U.S. and declaring they have no Gays in Iran and other such nonsense. We don't need the media, he can do it by himself.

Well, the government of Iran is the one established by the same revolutionaries who attacked American soil and held Americans hostage for over a year. It is a theocracy, which is very much at odds with American ideals. They have been supporting terrorism the entire time, including terrorist groups that have killed Americans. They are actively sabotaging the Colalition efforts to stabilize Iraq, including supplying self-forging anti-tank mines to insurgents, and even sending Iranian special forces accross the border. They have ballistic missles and are persuing nuclear weapons. And, thier current President may well /be/ one of those original hostage-takers, and has made more than a few statements that are, again, very much at odds with American ideals and values.
But, aside from all that, no, nothing leaps immediately to mind that could cause the average American to take a dim view of Iran.

Maybe the fact that it's a fundamentalist Islamic military dictatorship run by a crazed Holocaust-denying nutjob, with no freedom for ethnic and sexual minorities, which is trying to get a nuclear weapon, might have something to do with it. Though I suppose you would love to live in such a country.

Tell me about it!!!! the media totally controls what this country thinks of the rest of the war and everything else.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was talk to reporters about the fires and he said "Its all good news, even though You (the media) don't want to hear it, its all good news."
All they want is the bad news. How bad the fires are, how many soldiers have died in Iraq, and how bad Bush is. Nothing good.
Brad Kasel was also talking to some reports over in Iraq and he asked why they don't report anything good, and the reporter said "because the bad news, sells the papers."
All they care about is money.... that is all!!!
