Appears to me all the time, Americans saying "middle eastern" accent when they mean "Indian"

Do americans actually believe India is in the Middle east? What the hell did they teach them in geography class?

One cannot answer this question because the meaning of 'American' isn't clear:

- A person or attribute of South or North America
- A person or attribute of the indigenous peoples of South or North America
- A citizen or attribute of the ’United States of America’: the political correct term
is 'US-American'

...We don't learn about accents in geography. I would be surprised if anyone does.

To be frank, American geography and history classes tend to focus only on the US. I don't think it is a good way to teach, but it is the way it is done. Out of all of my years of history and geography classes in the US schools system, I only had one year dedicated to world geography and one year dedicated to world history--and, even then, those were taught in relation to how they affected the US.

It is a very egocentric way of teaching.

They taught it in the classroom but nobody paid any attention. They were to busy trying to keep their baggy britches from falling off their butts or making sure there cleavage is showing.

We have raised a coupla generations of morons - many of whom never even completed high school. If they managed to graduate, it was only because they were pushed through by uncaring teachers and uninvolved parents.

Sad but true. We are a nation who can no longer work the high tech jobs, who graduate few if any mathemeticians, scientists.

We have to look outside our country to fill the high end jobs. Our poorly educated generations are only good for burger flipping and tuning up your engine.

During the cold war (After sputnik) we stopped teaching geography to focus on math and science. So we could win the space race.
