good work Brian

I would strongly advise you to not attempt to get 2012 information from the internet. It is exactly because you (and most people) know so little about the subject that so many of these lies are being purpetrated on the web. 95% of what you will find are fabricated lies. If you want true information about the subject, seek out works by John Major Jenkins. He is the primary researcher who has devoted the last ten years to studying the calendar and the Mayan culture. Junk on the internet has popped up in the last 3-4 years by fear mongers.

I wish I could be amused by the stuff being presented but there are many such as yourself who are confused by it all and unnecessarily frightened by things which will not and could not happen. Google the Mayan calendar cycles. The Mayan were astronomers and mathematicians who calculated when the sun would appear to rise when the Milky Way was low on the horizon. That's basically all that this 2012 stuff is about. Just something to look at. No more.

The Maya calender "rolls over" because we are entering a new age, or eon. The Earth's axis wobbles, in such a way that, aproximately once every 2000 years, the Sun of the equinox day rises in a diffrent constelation. Right now we're in the age of psices, which began in the year 1 AD, the mayans calculated their calender only for this age, which will end between 2012 and 2150 (this being a transitional period). All the references to the end of the world are merely refering to the end of this age. The age after this one is the age of aquarius.
From what I know, the Earth can't be knocked off it's axis, and the Sun won't change it's own. The planets aligning is highly improbable, and even if it happened, it wouldn't effect us, the gravity of all the planets put toghether is but a fraction of that of the Sun. And regarding Nostradamus, usually what he predicted is only obvious after the event has already happened. Basically there's nothing aparent to worry about. Some Doomsday forcasters claim the year 2012 will mean the end of the world, but let's face it, if we'd listen to all of them, the apocalypse would happen every other tuesday. So don't worry :P

In the words of Bill Clinton, "So What?" So what if the Mayan calendar happens to end in our lifetime? If the Mayans were so friggin bright, they'd be ruling the Americas right now. What is it about the Maya that make them so friggin omniscient? So their calendar ends? Ours ends every year. There is nothing out there that is going to knock the earth off its axis, or change the sun's axis. The planets NEVER line up like a row of billiard balls. The most they do is all cluster into one quadrant of the sky and that has happened two or three times since I was born. AMAZINGLY, we're still HERE!

When you see all the politicians and NASA people getting in a rocket for Mars in early 2012, wave bye to them and go on with your life.
NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN except the same stuff that happens all the time. We've always had earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, volcanoes, droughts, blizzards, swarms of locusts and wars. The only thing that could happen in 2012 is that things would get BETTER for a while.

Don't lose any more sleep over this and don't buy any books explaining all the "hidden" wisdom of the Maya or any other long-gone primitive tribe.

Here we go, point by point:
"Will the earth get knocked off its axis?"
No, not as far as we know.

"Will the sun change its axis?"
No. The sun is a HUGE freaking body of gas. To change its rotation from its current center of rotation (axis) to another would take so much energy that it would require another large star, probably bigger - and if they DID collide or come close to one another, Earth would definitely be doomed.

"What planets will really align in 2012. Venus,Mercury, saturn."
There are no expected planetary alignments in 2012.

"What happens when the suns new 24th 'sun spot' change thing happens?"
Nothing.

"And just basically what will happen 2012 comes threw?"
Nada.

"Will the maya calender really end, or a new cycle of sorts starts?"
Well, it DOES end in the year 2012.

"If it does end, Why?"
Because that's the end of the 13th Long Count. I just did a bit of digging, and it doesn't necessarily have to end there - they just stopped counting after the 13th count.

"What does NASA and the GOVERNMENT(s) think of this?"
Zilch.

"What does Nostradamus really predict about 2012?, and not what the media is hyping up about it?"
Squat.

OH OH I want to answer the NASA bit

NASA and the GOVERNMENT think this of that..........

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA........ damn I need more coffee.

yup. thats probably what they're thinking

actually, I heard one guy here in YA bring up a good point.

many claim that the sun earth and planets AND the center of our galaxy (a black hole) will line up on 12/12/2012 causing a massive gravitational pull on the earth.

well. home dude (KBW3) said. the earth the sun and the blackhole line up once a year EVERY year, always has and always will.

He's got a major point there.

my point. our planets don't effect our gravity or our orbit.

BTW
may 26 2011 around 11 am UTC is the time the planets (mars earth mercury and venus) line up

but guess what, it doesn't include the sun.
the 4 planets will make a line on the "left?" side of the sun. the line will just touch the edge of mercuries orbit. (not through the sun)

12 12 2012 doesn't look eventfully orbit wise at all and the planets surely don't line up.

People who get excited over coinciding numbers should remember this - most calendars were off centuries ago due to miscalculations of the earth's rotation and orbit period ( witness Leap Year, to take care of that pesky 1/4 day we gain every year ). Many calendars in the past were "adjusted" to make up for these variances over time. Actually, the 12 Horoscopes are off, too, because of these calendar variations, you are about one type off of what you think you are. So, really, there is no "magic" in calendar numbers or such, other than what superstitious beliefs crop up around them by the ignorant. Just live your life day to day as normal.

For those who say the Mayans aren't around any more --
there's some people in central America and Mexico who would like to talk to you.

The Maya civilization was destroyed by the Spanish, but the people (mostly) survived.

I guess I should point out that our calendars end every year on December 31, and nothing ever happens.

The Maya calendar ends, because they deemed it was far enough out to cover any important dates. *If they were still around*, it would be likely they'd create another one, or adopt ours.

No facts at all. None. It is all myth and hype. The media wants to sell papers or to get you to watch their shows.
