Hold the fort Gyp,too tired tonight but 'I'll be back'(can't do the voice).
Answer:
Ignorance of the facts I suppose.Consider this;hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent every year on ensuring the Jewish side of the conflict is seen in the best possible light. How often do you ever see soldiers uprooting a poor Palestinians olive trees. How often do you see Palestinians queing for hours on end at checkpoints just to get to where they need to go.How often do you see the atrocious conditions Palestinians endure day in day out?How many Americans actually know anything of the Palestinians point of view.Probably only the ones who go to the bother of asking the question, why is this happening?
The American government is lobbied ,the press pressured and any dissenting voices immediately shouted down.Such is the power of Israeli spin and poor Palestine can never and will never be allowed to tell its side of the story to the American people. The Zionists out shout those Jewish people who do not like what they see happening in Israel and the Armageddonists in the administration are quite happy to let them.
Andrew S:Quote 'they do not send their children on suicide missions to attack innocent civilians'
No, their preference is to coldly send in a missile to collectively punish innocent men women and children.Which might explain why far more Palestinians have died than Israelis

well, most Americans are misled by the very powerful Zionist lobby propaganda machine.
Most Americans do not know that the name Palestine is a Christian name. The Christians call the country the holly land of Palestine. Most Americans do not know that the first people in the world who converted to Christianity were the Palestinians.
Most Americans do not know that there are Palestinian Christians living in Palestine.

To Win , Spread Ignorance!
Americans are becoming more and more aware of your Zionist evil tactics. Just look at the number of thumbs down to your evasive answer.

My answer to the question now:
If Americans support Palestinians they would be contradicting the Spirit of America: Oppressing the natives of the land ,
Robbing their land the mock them falsely : "Indian Givers"
No Indian ever gave his land to the white man.
Exterminating with diseases , poisoned blankets and engineered genetic defects among the Indian natives.
No Palestinian ever to renounce their God giving homeland.
And no Jew have the exclusive claim of the Prophet Jesus Christ homeland , note that Jesus is their sworn hated enemy!
IZIONISM is the creation of the American expansionists, the very same neocon Zionists that planned the invasion of Iraq.
It is not a simple support of Zionist Israel, its the engine that run that rogue entity in the middle east, without Neocons and Evangelist charlatan of America, Israel never existed and if existed will not last a day light in history.
But what goes up bound to come down!
History never forgives nor forgets!

Andrew: Yawn. Yet another member of the Society of Brainwashed.
Many Americans DO support Palestinian rights, but our voices are constantly being outshouted by the screeching Zionists and their "God gave Israel to the Jews" line of bullsh!t. Unfortunately, these are the very people who run the U.S. media---it is THEY who decide that you'll never ever, see a photo of a Palestinian child shot dead by Israeli soldiers in print in any major American newspaper.
Americans are constantly barraged by one-side images of the Middle East (Israel: "good"; Palestinians: "evil") and the sheeple like Andrew, who are too lazy to draw intelligent conclusions, go right along with the mindset.
Add to this the fact that the U.S. government is overrun by those sorry folk known as "born-again Christians", who also adhere to the Zionist beliefs. As we Pagans like to say...too many right-wing Christians, not enough lions.
Edit to Andrew: the area formerly known as Trans-Jordan was ONLY the portion of Palestine that lay east of the Jordan River, ya w@nker. Palestine also included ALL of what is now "Israel". Get your geography straight, or SHUT UP, ya clown. And if those Jews needed a homeland so badly, why weren't they given Germany? Or better yet, why don't you volunteer wherever the hell YOU live, and you can get out?

One cannot answer this question because the meaning of 'American' isn't clear:
- A person or attribute of South or North America
- A person or attribute of the indigenous peoples of South or North America
- A citizen or attribute of the ’United States of America’: the political correct term
is 'US-American'

Because Palestine is not the Country of Christ. The area was known as Israel at the time. The name Palestine was given to the region by the Romans after they scattered the jews from their Country.

Israel is a democracy that has much more in common with western democracies than the Syrian and Jordanians who call themselves "Palestinians."
Israel was founded primarily by survivors and refugees of the WWII holocast; "Palestine" refers to a region that was a British protectorate called "Transjordan." It was never a nation with an identity distinct from Jordan, Syria, or Lebanon.
Also, Israel has never savagely attacked the Olympic games; they do not send their children on suicide missions to attack innocent civilians; they believe in and have such sinful, Western notions as equal rights for women, freedom of speech, etc, that most (not all) Islamic nations profess to despise.
And there's a lot of Jews in America; they've been a vital, valuable part of America's success. In America, certain groups can express themselves, vote, and lobby their legislatures, without fear of being executed, imprisoned, or fed to a woodchipper, not the case in many Islamic countries, which also tend to support Hezbollah, Hamas, and other terrorist organizations.
addendum - yes, gypsycat, Israel's made some mistakes, but there ARE a few facts that you're overlooking.
As to the question of why the Palestinians don't get much sympathy, well, gee, ATTACKING THE OLYMPICS? That certainly wasn't created by our "Zionist" media. Could you see why "sheeple" like me might take issue with that?
Suicide bombers? They exist - that's why Israel built those big walls. IDF snipers don't target Palestinian children - you're confusing them with the indiscrimiate methods of suicide bombers that get on public buses with ball bearings and dynamite.
I'm surprised, gypsycat, why you have so much sympathy for the "Palestinian cause." They're a wildly misogynistic, anti-female bunch - do you think you'd be able to have this discussion, as a Palestinian woman, with a Palestinian man?
How about a driver's license? Voting? Being able to work in any profession? Frequently not an option for women in Muslim, Arab, or Middle Eastern countries.
Perhaps if you travel to some of these countries, read a few more books, and get some education beyond the current politically correct, leftist curriculum, you'll feel a little differently.
Anti-Semitism is racism too, and is as ignorant and ugly as any sort of hate! (The difference is that it's acceptable to many upper crust Europeans & University professors.)
addendumn 3 -Ok, this will be my last reply. You guys probably are late for a Nazi night rally, anyway, so I'll keep it brief.
1) Anyone who wants to see Palestinians suffering needs only to tune in to Al-Jezeera for a few minutes. A-J has gone from a relatively balanced news provider to a provider of propaganda over the last several years.
2) The reason those Israeli missiles hit innocent civilians sometimes is because the apartment building the missile hit is sheltering, besides a number of nice families, a Hezbollah or Hamas bomb factory.
3) The real reason Palestinians are held up from "where they need to go" (ie, jobs in Israel) is because of terrorist attacks from Palestinian refugee camps. There's no other reason.
4) Are you so sure the other side is the racist one? Take a look in the mirror. Do you have any hatreds based on skin color or religion? Based on your postings, I believe you do!!
and - this has zilch to do w/the Middle East, but it was mentioned - there is a grand total of ONE documented incident of British colonial troops handing out small pox infected blankets to Native Americans.
While the British and US treatment of Native Americans was often abysmal, all other smallpox infections (and measles, mumps, flu, etc) were unintentional, and resulted from a lack of immunity to European diseases.
This was in fact how most Native Americans died, and was a trend that started in the days of the conquistadores. The technology to weaponize bacteria and viruses was not at all developed at that time, nor were hygene & modern medical practices followed by the European colonists or by natives.

I could write something fancy but bottom line is "they", the US govt., don't support Palestine because they, the US govt., are not nice people, kinda evil, kinda racist, kinda anti-islamic. Sounds kinda simplistic but that's pretty much all there is to it.
