with Israelis?????

Palestinians do want to live in peace. Israel does not want to give them their own freedom and land. According to CIA agents, Israel uses most of its resources for its own people and gives Palestinians an inadequate supply (as Palestinians are considered to be less than human). Palestinians are unable to survive on what the Israeli government doles out. All of this occurred in the beginning of Israel's blindness and inhumanity towards people other than themselves. Obedience to God means that one reflects God's spirit and not boast in one's own. Jews fall short, very short of God's glory. Insufficiently short as they reject Jesus as the Messiah. This is where all of the problems begin and not with the Palestinians. Hope this helps, Rove.

So, when do we go into help straighten this mess? Do we bomb Arabs until they are no more and must give in, like in Iraq, as the Bush administration is doing? Will the Democrats continue the same under Hillary? Will we finally see an end to life with WW III and a mutually assured destruction between nations? Will the US ever permit a good President to rise in China or will they murder this man?

This is "the" answer to your question.

Yours,

Most sane people in the world do want to live in peace. Most Palestinians are sane people. So are most Israelis. So what causes so many Israelis and Palestinians to be so belligerent? Why do they seem to be so adamant about spilling each others blood. Why do they break their word, and renege on any offer of peace? In other words, what is the overarching force or compulsion that is overriding their sanity? It is a one-word answer: RELIGION.

Though I am no expert in either Palestinian history or Israeli history, nor is my knowledge on the conflict between the two peoples extensive, I don’t think their differences are so unique, that they have not been see in history before. Many of history’s conflicts involve the same disparities between two groups of people, and many of those conflicts were resolved in peaceable ways.

Unfortunately, a large and vocal subset of the Israeli and Palestinian communities are blinded by religious certainties, which preclude them from seeing their malaise as an earthly problem that can be resolved by human means. Instead, their religious dogmatism acts as a red herring, and takes their solvable earthly dilemmas, and transports them to otherworldly dimensions. So instead of addressing the issue of why a certain group has so much and another group has so little, they merely vilify each other, and believe that their own nation has a divine mandate to occupy a certain strip of land. This is the precise danger of religion. Instead of seeing the person on the other side of the fence as a human being with the same wants, desires, and aspirations as you; religion causes you to see that person as the depraved Muslim, or that devilish Jew. You attach labels to human beings based on your preferred mythology/religion. You create an artificial line of demarcation that doesn’t need to be there, and thus you are distracted from the issues that can be solved, and become enamored by your false sense of entitlement and the perceived inferior status of your rival. Religion is the greatest progenitor of segregation, and the inequities stem from that segregation.

I strongly believe the majority of Palestinians do want peace just like the majority of the Israeli's want peace.

But on both sides the political leadership and military powers do not listen to the people but try to indoctrinate them with fear and propaganda.

What we need to keep in mind is that it's very hard for people to stay reasonable and rational when they constantly feel in danger. It's very understandable in such a situation that people turn to the guy's with guns to protect them. Really doesn't matter if you're an innocent Israeli who wants to have a pleasant evening at a club that gets blown up or an innocent Palestinian who's house gets bombed by fighter jets because the local yihadi's decided to hide in your neighbor's house.
That's the situation, emotions run high, almost everyone has lost or at least knows someone who lost a loved one to violence. Ideal playground for the propagandist

For the same reason the Ukrainians, the Poles and the Hungarians did not want to "live in peace" with their Nazi conquerors. The Nazis called all those who resisted the occupation of their country terrorists. Currently, the situation is the Gaza Strip is virtually identical to the siege of the Warsaw Ghetto in 1943. They fought back too. How very ironical, now that the shoe is on the other foot and the jews are on top. I think the Gaza Strip territory should immediately declare it's independence as a Palestinian State - without further ado. They are under daily siege but for now the jews are outside it's perimeters. As an independent nation, they will enjoy many protections under international law that do not currently apply. The jews are not out for good; they will attempt a return. It is vital for the Palestinians of Gaza to declare themselves a state - immediately.

They do want peace but that requires peace-negotiations. Maybe the absence of negotiations since 2000 has something to do with it. The absence of a political-process creates a vacuum filled by violence on BOTH sides. I reject the thesis that one side is morally superior to the other. I am neutral and believe BOTH sides have wronged the other. Until both sides accept that their respective peoples' both have a right to self-determination, the conflict will go on. And the vested interests, like the oil-industry and the arms-industry will continue to laugh all the way to the bank.

Would you live in peace with someone who showed up at your door with a group of cops, took your home from you, and told you to camp out in the yard? (Cops are supposed to protect the good people from harms and enforce the laws. In this case, the cops(guess who?) ignored your property rights and the laws, and told you to get out now or go to jail.)

The Palestinians only want Israel, because it is a Jewish nation....this has been going on since Sarah handed over her hand maiden to Abraham...

If you believe the Bible...and I do....God promised Issac's descendants the land....He promised Ismael many descendants....but not any land...

God gave the land of Israel to Abraham (Genesis 17:8) and to his descendants through Isaac (Genesis 26:2-5) and Jacob (Genesis 28:1-4,13-14).

Ishmael was promised that his descendants would be "multiplied exceedingly" (Genesis 17:20) And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. 21 But my covenant I will establish with Isaac.

Since the descendants of Issac follow the Torah....and Ismael's brood follows Quran...they differ in opinion on who the land belongs to.

Such a small piece of land for so much controversy....but it is not really over the "land" but what is perceived from both sides as their birthright.

Man....I am continually shocked at the amount of anti-semitism there is in the world....and especially here on YA...I guess, if is now GWB's fault, it is the Jews....??

Israel was formed with the blessing and backing of the UN, something that the Arab nations fought and in many ways continue to fight. Hamas has openly stated in the past that it completely opposed Israel's right to exist.

Both are fighting for land rights and I fear it'll be a never ending battle.
