No. Button doesn't always live up to what is expected. And that amount is way too much. He hasn't achieved much in F1 and I don't think having another Brit alongside Lewis is a good idea.

Its quite impossible for Jense to go to McLaren however well he deserves it because dont forget the team has a big % taken out from Mercedes and other sponsers who would not be happy to see this happen. Plus ages ago it was announced that McLaren would never have 2 British Drivers and id rather Jense win with Honda again plus Jenson is very loyal to Honda and he still sees a lot of potential within the team and so do I. Also it doesnt matter how many wins any driver has as long as hes proven himself a front competitor and a strong head to push the team forward which Jense could easily do :P ill remind you of hungary 2006 france 2007 and somewhere else in 2007 where he took over 10 cars and so on and so forth. all his career he has made stunning drivers and consider the dog of a car he had this year and how hard he tried it shows hes not there just to pick up a pay check at the end of the month. Plus as Jenson said with the Ferrari situation hes not sure if both drivers get equal machienary ( i suppose the spying scandle proves jense wrong there :P)

Why would McLaren hire Jenson Button ?

He has not performed in how long ? One win in over 100 formula one starts say's he has not got the winning mentality or conviction .. Honda have given him everything and even though the honda has had a few problems Button should have at least put the thing on the podium a few more times than he has ..

McLaren should go for a driver who at least can give them a winning chance ..

Ralf Schumacher is excellent at setting up cars and is quick in the right machinery .. The Toyota he has been given has been a dog ,

I would pick him as an experienced head to run alongside Hamilton .. Other wise I would grab a good prospect for the future who shows promise like Kubica //

I think Ron Dennis should offer the 30 million to a good driver. There have been alot talk of Heikki and Nico. They probably will be payed less but will have a better chance at winning. If anything maybe Sutil will have a chance. I believe Hamilton and Sutil were team mates in GP2.

It's not likely. Button is a competitive driver who I don't think will want to play second fiddle to Hamilton. Yes, Ron may like the idea of a british duo but I don't think that's wise. Hamilton is the current British fave and Button WAS the British fave. If they are egoistic enough, I think we'll see another team-mate fight here.

It's all really up to Ron and if he can manage. But I wouldn't advise a $30 million salary

Well, for starters a driver with only one win under his belt (Jenson Button) isn't worth anything close to $30 million, even if it's spread over a 10-year period.
I would rather see test driver Gary Paffett get the second seat at McLaren (it won't happen). However, if you want an all-British driver line-up, how about Lewis Hamilton and Nigel Stephney. True, Nigel doesn't have a superlicense and he really isn't a racing driver, but he's damn good when it comes to sending text messages. :-)

Great idea, don't know about the $30 million tho.

Jenson is a fast knowledgeable driver who granted only has one win to his credit but he has had a few pole positions in the past which proves he is fast and can be at the front with the right car.
When things were a little more equal this year (wet/damp conditions) he was in with a shout,as for his ego as a few people have mentioned, what F1 driver dosen't have one?

Jenson Button's overrated. his first and only win is a fluke.

McLaren should get a no-name driver so that driver can't feel bad that Ron's favoring Lewis all the time

i think a bit of arrogance would permit Jenson taking a seat (albeit not for long!) and the protective nature of the Ron and Lewis relationship would make asking him. ..difficult!

it would be a cracking team as i think they would be fairly matched as drivers and it would be good to see Jenson driving instead of whigeing due to ANOTHER retirement.

As a Honda fan I don't think this is a good idea. :)
But yes you're right Button and Hamilton would make the dream team together since both of them are great drivers.
