If you find something unique within your price range go for it with a card from the merchant stating that the article may be exchanged by the recipient. You can always give a gift certificate for their favorite store.

A nice candle! Some housewarming scent like: Gingerbread, Pumpkin, or Cinnamon Apple. Most people love good smelling candles.

A Food Saver can be had at a reasonable price. Everyone that has one, loves them.
Something that they'll use for years and thank you many times for....Yeh, I know, it's not too exciting.....BUT!.Nobody else with think of it.

Moving from an apt. (or whatever) into a bigger place can make things "look" empty. If you have any ideas of their tastes, a gift certificate to a little shop that carries those tasteful items will surely be appreciated.
