I wouldn't ditch the bumper. It does identify it as a thirtieth anniversary model. I don't know how significant that is with the Firebird but many times the "Anniversary" designation is a limited build on a model during the anniversary year. Better safe than sorry. See if you can find a Firebird Club somewhere. Perhaps a member could give you the straight scoop on it.

Don B, the TransAm was originally introduced in 1969, so the 30th Anniversary of the TransAm and not the Firebird itself was 1999. The Firebird was first introduced in 1967 hench the 30th Anniversary of the Firebird is indeed 1997.
Don B - So? Because Camaro put out a 30th Anniversary edition that somehow causes a time warp and the Firebird is not 30 years old in 1997? Because I don't paint myself white with blue stripes and slap on blue suede shoes doesn't make me any younger and thankfully not any older.

I'm pretty sure that's aftermarket. The Camaros that year were marketed as 30th anniversary Camaros, but Firebirds weren't as far as I can remember.
I did a little search on the internet but I didn't see any indication that there's actually such a thing as a 1997 30th Anniversary Firebird.

WRONG, the 30th Ann'y for the Firebird was the 99 models.
I owned a 98 M6 TransAm and the stealership I purchased it from tried to sell me one of the white(w/ blue tint mag wheels) 99 Ann'y model TransAm's. To try and get my black M6 TransAm back in their lot stock.
25th Anniversary T/A - appearance package upgrade to the Trans Am GT available only in 1994. All white exterior (plus white 5-spoke 16" wheels) and blue stripe (about 6" wide) running from nose to tail. The interior got white leather seats and appointments with 25th Anniversary logos. Logos were also painted below the Trans Am badges on the doors. Production was limited to 2000 cars (1750 coupes and 250 convertibles).
VZ_one: 1997 - 30th Anniversary Camaro marked by white car with Hugger Orange racing stripes, with white Houndstooth cloth interior, or optional white leather. Also included white 5-spoke wheels.

The car could have been somewhat designed (in some fashion) after the 1967 model. That was the 1st year they made the Firebird, actually. Firebirds were hot, and we had great horsepower then.

You might ask Deanne at afterthoughtsauto.com. She sells leter kits for inserting into the bumper moulded leters. Actual 30 anneversary cars were WS-6 Trans AM's with wider rims with Blue Spokes. I bet the front bumper to be right has to have the anversary emblem for the year of car.

1997 was the 30th anniversary (birthday) of the Firebird . . . . the first year for the Pontiac Firebird was 1967.

If you replace the part with another that isn't the exact same the car will no longer be considered origional.. Which down the line will affect the value of it.. Better to restore it and keep your car "numbers matching" then later on it will be worth more money..
