I have a compaq pressario c306 US and when i turn it on within 10 seconds it turns back off ive tried pressing f11 and going to safemode but it cant even get there it just keeps going in a cycle of restarting what can i do i really need help

This same thing happened to me and this worked.
It could also be a malfunctioning of a component, such as the hard drive or RAM. It you can, check your RAM. Usually your computer comes with two RAM chips, and they can be found on the bottom of the laptop. Just do a trial and error. Make sure you unplug AC adapter and take out battery when you are taking out and changing the chips. Then when you are trying to see if it works, then plug those back in. Do this for both RAM chips.
This is to see if one of the RAM chips are bad, which is a good possibility for what's happening.

If that doesn't work, then you're going to have to re-format your hard drive.

It may be a battery problem. Try removing the battery, connecting it to the mains via the charger and turning it on. If that works, the battery is so dead it's pulling down the charger to zero volts.

this is generaly not good. did you drop it?
because is sounding like its overheating for the cpu is going.

you can try to reseat the memory but I dought that will help.
