They only benefit the few. Usually the well connected and already rich. Should any law benefit more than a few who are on the inside its demonized as socialism.

Tax cuts are a boon for the economy. The more money you put into the individual's pocket, the freer they will feel to spend, which will slow inflation, create jobs, and actually increase revenue to the government by increasing the number of people who pay taxes and reducing the number of people on government welfare programs.

Tax increases have just the opposite effect. The more the government pulls from people's pockets, the less they will spend. What will happen then is that inflation will increase. Companies raise their prices, passing their burdens onto us. At the same time, companies no longer have the money to expand and create new jobs. Therefore, job creation is adversely affected, and many people will lose their jobs, increasing the tax burden on the government as fewer people pay taxes and more are put on welfare programs. It becomes a vicious cycle.

HOWEVER, tax cuts MUST be accompanied by responsible spending, responsible use of our resources. Sadly, neither democrats nor republicans have proven themselves very adept at this.

I hardly think that increasing taxes is the solution, but there need to be some major government cutbacks... Maybe we can cut congress' pay and take away their ability to raise it. Maybe then they'd remember that they're supposed to be working for us.

Tax revenues in 2006 were actually above the levels projected before the 2003 tax cuts. Immediately before the 2003 tax cuts, the CBO projected a 2006 budget deficit of $57 billion, yet the final 2006 budget deficit was $247 billion. The $190 billion deficit increase resulted from federal spending that was $237 billion more than projected. Revenues were actually $47 billion above the projection, even after $75 billion in tax cuts enacted after the baseline was calculated. By that standard, new spending was responsible for 125 percent of the higher 2006 budget deficit, and expanding revenues actually offset 25 percent of the new spending.

How does a tax CUT end up costing us MORE in the end? The tax cut in and of itself cannot mathematically produce such a result. If you're given a check for $500 and "allowed" to keep $490 dollars of it as opposed to $390, how on EARTH do you end up with LESS at the end of the day?

Actually the conservative tax cuts have netted the government far more income in the long run because of the vast increase in business.

The rich pay more in taxes now, as a percentage, than they did in 1981, and their tax burden is greater, as a percentage, than their income. For example, the top 1% of income earners earn about 21% of all income, and pay 39% of all the taxes. If you're interested in facts, and not just slogans the following link is very instructive.

In what way. The tax cuts bush passed actually brought in more tax revenue than before due to putting money back in the hands of citizens and allowing them to grow their businesses and spend on the economy. Bush's policies may have cost us a lot of money, but the tax issue has nothing to do with that.

how have they cost us more?!? Just a little curious. I am in the poorer middle class, and am doing fine. Financial responsibility is not that of the government's.

It is a scam. A pack of lies. No one wants to pay tax or at least no more than they have to. Since they have no winning stand on anything else they latch onto that premise and run with it. Eventually people see what it does and Democrats get back into power until we forget again.
