I'm sick of reading homophobic statements in yahoo GLBT section. Why don't users just report the question as a violation and have the question removed quickly? Why do people reply to these stupid questions, is degrading yourself for 2 points worth it?

A lot of times I know you can't tell the question by the title... and I know sometimes it gets to me and I want to say something... but I always report too... I can't stand it... It's funny though cause most the time it has to do with religion and beliefs... and most the post about LGBT in the R&S section are very accepting... they just want attention... and I know sometimes it's hard to just walk away... But if I don't have anything witty to say I just report. :)

My dear Young Man, this summer we had a huge Rash of Trolls in LGBT. We tried reporting, we tried *everything* -- and I'm not kidding -- we even threatened a lawsuit. It didn't help. We had people getting getting their accounts pulled left and right for no reasons by people we don't know and the ever omnicient Y!A Gods.
What it comes down to is that, like it or not, *everyone* has the right to free speech here at Y!A. If you don't like it, you do indeed have the right to report it. If you do, please make certain that the question or answer meets TOS requirements. I had enough headaches this last summer of friends getting reported for stupid things.
Let the homophobes or the Fundies rant. Turn the other cheek, RAMO, ignore them, or use your razor wit. Just remember if we don't ALL have free speech NONE of us do.

Sometimes, I just don't care about them anymore but if I catch them at a very bad day in a very bad mood, I click the Report button faster than you can pull the trigger.

I don't care what they say anymore. But yeah, I do my part on bettering the community through reporting very offensive statements from these people.

Take care! ;)

I usually read the title to the question before clicking on it. If it's something I'm not interested in or I find that it may be derogatory I just don't click on it at all, and move on to more relevant and more sincere questions. Frankly I don't waste my time with people who have nothing better to do than ridicule, hurt others or just want to start trouble. They can take that bone to another dog, because I don't bother with it to begin with.

Oh my point exactly!!

I've been trying to get people to see this for months, but people here seem to actually enjoy discourse and drama, no matter who it hurts or how it only proliferates the problem.

It's all a symptom of "reality television" and the "dumbing down of America." It's the acceptance and tolerance of mediocrity that I find totally disgusting.

Generally, I do. But if I have a snappy retort that they will perhaps think about, instead of simply reacting to negatively, I write it. I could care less about points and it is not the reason I use Answers. It is to help people when ever possible.

you seem to be angrier at the people who answer then at the actual asker, given the fact that most of the answers are usually in the defence of GLBT I wouldn't be to harsh on them, they can still report after putting their view across of course, even if it means the deletion of their answer.
I think it's quite nice to see how many people actually defend and support the GBLT users by airing their disgust, it also shows the asker they won't be tolerated.

I am flattered to have a thumbs down clown following me this evening.
Ooh two! look at me, look at me!

As this forum is self-monitored, what you refer to is bound to happen

If you see a valid reason then report it, but don't come on here preaching at other people and telling them what to do.

Answers works this way, so get used to it and move on.

honestly... I dont think of my 2 points when I reply, I just enjoy ranting at them as much as they enjoy being ignorant. I dunno why it is but its just the way I am. Besides theres always that chance that somene else will read the question and doesn't feel as strongly about it and maybe my words will reach out to that person. I saw some ignorant questions, but the well worded answers I've seen given makes me feel like taking pride in being what I am... and I guess that makes makes me feel good, when I normally feel shameful... it depends what you mean by homophobic statements. you need to accept that not everyone agrees with homosexuality and if you post a question or use forums you need to accept others views. insults and bad language is unacceptable though, in any subject.
