Neil supports the Fair Tax Bill (HR-25/S-1025) because it is fair to everyone. The same flat percentage applies to everyone. Each individual has the power to determine "IF, WHEN and HOW MUCH" tax they will pay to the federal government. The power is taken away from politicians and they can no longer "reward their friends, penalize their opposition and conduct social engineering". Politicians will no longer be able to hide the amount of tax revenues they are collecting from individuals through embedded hidden taxes they have placed on corporations and businesses. There will be no taxes on business under the Fair Tax bill.

While there are a considerable number of people that say they are against the Fair Tax, most of them just plain do not know about it and are responding to bits they have heard from others.

There are only two groups that truely oppose the Fair Tax Bill. They include politicians because of the reasons indicated above. The second group are those who have "a vested financial interest in maintaining the current income tax code." These imclude the lobbists ( 35,000+ in DC that earn six figure income by lobbying to change the income tax code) those that rely on the income tax code for work (IRS employees, tax attorneys or tax preparers) and those with their wealth invested in various tax loopholes.(they pay very low tax rates) The tax loopholes will be gone. These individuals spend a great deal of money on new goods and will now be paying a higher amount of taxes then under the current system.

The Fair Tax Plan many any responders have referred to is an actual bill before Congress. It is not just an idea of some individuals. It was developed by independent economists from major universities and colleges and then refined by market research companies and focus groups. There has been over $22 million spent doing research and studies on the plan. It is truly the most studied tax reform in the history of the American government.

The only way I see the poor losing , is they would lose the child tax credits , and the earned income credits which make up a portion of their refunds at the end of the year , the rich benefit because most of their major things are paid for , cars , homes etc....I could be wrong , but if a low income buys an outfit for 30 dollars , and the rich man pays 500 dollars , and the the flat tax is say 25% plus state tax , wouldn't the rich guy be paying more ?

The rich benifit from no tax on investments , and high interest savings accounts , the poor have non of these , but most of the poor inherit homes ,and small life insurance policies so they benifit as well , didn't they say there would be checks ( from the taxes) that would go to those who qualify , like so much a month for food , and to help with the kids .....

I would benifit , I pay 5 digits every year in taxes , I would save more , because I am not a big spender , I do not go every friday and buy DVD releases , CD's etc... I do not go to the movies , and I do not buy the latest fashion ,....I buy what is needed , and save all I can ....

The only other thing I see fair positive is illegals would pay from things they consume ,and they would not qualify for rebates ...Criminals should be paying as well ..

It would teach lots of people to better manage money , instead of getting caught in the sucker trap ( credit ) ....

To each their own , but for me it would save me lots of money ....

What people don't understand is that the fair tax doesn't just add 23% to everything, but first takes out the rest of the tax code so it is just this 23% consumption tax. People think that this will raise prices by 23% but in reality we already pay about 22% on everything in a "phantom tax" so really we only increase prices by a 1% or 2 and get to keep our INCOME and PAYROLL taxes. Like others have said it will cause for the ones like illegal immigrants to have to now pay as well. Another thing is how people think that it is some rich class conspiracy, in truth the poor don't have to pay anything in that each month you get a prebate depending on the size of your family.

From an economic standpoint it will also help the U.S. in that it will cause for corporate taxes to go down to zero, which will allow for american goods to be more competitive in the global market (we currently are in a 17% disadvantage basically to the rest of the world through our bad trade deals (I support free trade 100% but we have to make it free and fair for us)). These tax cuts will also be able to raise the GDP and creat new jobs and better working conditions, so really you should support this 100% in that it helps out all the classes.

What?...you buy something, you have to pay the same amount of taxes as anyone else buying it....

No more loop holes for the rich....or getting refunds you didn't pay in...

Everyone pulls their weight in this country...and we will have no more free loaders...

Illegals, and those working under the table, can no longer keep ALL the money they make....but will be forced to pay taxes if they purchase any goods..a tax equal to everyone else...not just the 6 to 11 they now pay according to what state they are in.

Sounds pretty fair to me.

It may be that he wants all the illegal aliens and criminals who pay so little taxes to increase their contributions. That's one of the reasons that I favor the tax. I noticed you didn't give any evidence to support your contention that the majority of Americans would pay more taxes under the "Fair Tax" plan. Fred Thompson likes it; read below.

The FairTax Plan is a nonpartisan national grassroots campaign to replace the federal income tax system with a progressive, national retail sales tax. It provides a "prebate" to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue replacement and, through companion legislation, repeal of the 16th Amendment.

What is the FairTax Plan?
The FairTax Plan is a nonpartisan proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll taxes with a progressive and fair tax on consumption (national retail sales tax). It includes a cash "prebate" that ensures no American pays federal taxes on their spending for essential goods and services up to the poverty level.
Why Americans want fair tax reform:
 It's fair — No more special interest exemptions, tax loopholes, deductions, or the lobbyists who peddle them. Every American is treated the same.
 It's simple — No more IRS, complex tax code, or preparing and filing of individual income tax returns!
 It gives you control — Choose how much and when you pay federal taxes. You are taxed only when you choose to consume, not on your income and productivity.
 Keep your entire paycheck — No more federal withholding or payroll tax deductions taken out of your check. You keep what you earn. No more taxes on savings and investments or on your estate at your death.
 Everyone contributes — Illegal immigrants and the underground economy will start paying federal taxes as well.

Have you even read the "Fair Tax"?

Where in the book does it state that there will be tax increases for the majority of Americans?

Please list your sources before making such statements.
