'cause it's the beach!
Employment is ok if you're a professional or work in hospitality.
Housing is relatively inexpensive compared to other places I've live.
The cost of living is very reasonable though some things like food and gas are going to cost about the same anywhere. The climate is such that utility costs are very manageable.
Crime - yep, have that here too. When you look at the stats though remember that they're kinda skewed - we have that huge tourist influx each summer and they aren't counted in our population.
did I mention the beach?
