The cramping and different aches and pains are GOOD.

You have to remember that your bones are moving, your body is trying to get ready to push some huge object out of you.

There are so many wives tales on what is suppose to be good for you, to speed things along.

However, I walked every day for about an hour a day and I was still 3 weeks late.

I think the baby will come when the baby's ready.

The pains you are feeling are most likely your body stretching and getting ready for the baby to come out. Sex helps the labor along because of the hormone in the semen that causes your cervix to dialate. Walking helps ease the cramps and pain. Congrats on the new baby!

The first thing I would reccomend is to avoid sex since you are dialating. The second thing I would reccomend is to relax a little because the baby will let you know when he feels like being birthed. God set all of this in motion many years ago, so beleive you me He knew what He was doing. In my experience every woman worries about her first baby, and I wouldn't be any different. I wish you and your baby all the best.

your body is attempting to get ready for the baby. If the pain is all over your abdomen and you can feel your abdomen get hard with the cramps, then, you may be on your way to having the baby. If the cramps are often, watch the clock and see how frequently they are coming! Call your doctor if they are closer than five minutes in between and continue for an hour or more.

You are probably experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions which are VERY common. There are different theories for what can bring on labor, some do say that sex could help although it hasn't been proven and it isn't a guarantee. But, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is so exciting for you and bless your baby boy!

Sex and walking sure don't hurt. Sex will also take your mind off the pain by releasing Endorphins which is kinda like taking a happy pill. They dull pain receptors.

Endorphins are endogenous opioid biochemical compounds. They are polypeptides produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates, and they resemble the opiates in their abilities to produce analgesia and a sense of well-being. In other words, they might work as "natural pain killers." Using drugs may increase the effects of the endorphins.

Walking and labor induction go hand in hand for many pregnancies. Walking is one of the commonly recommended methods of self inducing labor naturally and has many advantages.
Many women who have had healthy pregnancies are encouraged to walk when they are very close to or have passed their due date. Although doctors debate over whether or not walking actually cause labor to begin, there is a strong correlation between activity such as walking and going into labor. You don't want to engage in strenuous exercise near the end of your pregnancy, but walking has a number of benefits for the mother.

* Many women enter into the stages of early labor without fully realizing it, and walking can naturally help the labor progress more effectively.

* Walking helps mom be more comfortable and this can also help the body relax and prepare for labor.

* The anxiety level of many women is also very high near the end of the pregnancy, particularly with first time mothers, and walking can help alleviate anxiety.

* Walking can help pass the time in the last weeks or days before delivery. The force of gravity and pelvic pressure can help the baby settle into the proper position, another bonus for preparing to give birth.

* The physical movement may also help stimulate the muscles and prepare for contractions.

* The body's perspiring during walking may also signal the pituitary gland to increase hormone production, which may in turn have an effect on the hormone oxytocin, which causes labor to begin.

Since, there is little hard and fast proof of the relationship between walking and labor induction, many practitioners recommend that you employ whatever activities and physical positions make you the most comfortable at the end of your pregnancy.

Walking and Labor Induction Tips

The link between walking and labor induction may not be proven in black and white, but generations of women have sworn by this method. If you feel comfortable moving around and want to walk in late pregnancy, follow these tips:

* Avoid uneven terrain and large numbers of steps - your energy level and balance both decrease dramatically in late pregnancy.
* Walk in safe and familiar areas that are well lighted.
* Walk with your partner, friend, or relative whenever possible.
* Walk in comfortable shoes with non-slip soles.
* Drink plenty of water before and after walking to prevent dehydration.
* Avoid walking in extreme temperatures.
* Take breaks as necessary and don't overexert yourself.
* Wear comfortable, breathable, clothes and a supportive maternity bra.

When Not to Walk

Walking in late pregnancy is not for everyone. There are a variety of situations when this is not ideal. If you have a high-risk pregnancy, it may be important that you go into labor at the hospital in a monitored environment. If this is the case, discuss with your doctor when exactly you need to go to the hospital. You may be able to walk in the hospital while still being monitored.
Women who are not full term should also not attempt labor induction techniques as the baby may need more time to fully develop. Those who are at a risk for premature labor or other complications may also need to avoid walking to keep from labor being induced too early. If your 'water' (sac of amniotic fluid) has broken, your practitioner may ask you what color the fluid is -- if it's not clear, that could be a sign of meconium (waste) that may pose a danger to the baby. In this case, you may not be permitted to walk even if you are not yet in labor or having contractions since the baby will need to be monitored.
Walking can be a healthy and beneficial option for many women in late pregnancy. Although a long-believed to be a method for bringing on labor, it is not guaranteed, and you should do only those activities you feel comfortable doing.

The pain you are likely feeling is you body making it's self ready for the delivery.
If you can time the pains (5 minutes apart) notify your doctor. Or if your water breaks (you will know this feeling because you won't be able to stop the flow unlike urine) then also call your doctor.

Best of luck!

You could be having braxon hicks - false labor. I had them with #2. They're fun. . .ha. Nothing I know of helps induce labor - spicy food, bumpy ride, etc. Babies come when they want to and no sooner. Good luck!

I don't think sex helps but walking yes, I think your body is getting ready and it could be any moment of any day. Good luck.
