Democratic?

"Phelps has run in various Kansas Democratic Party primaries five times, but has never won. These included races for governor in 1990, 1994, and 1998, receiving about 15% of the vote in 1998. In the 1992 Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate, Phelps received 31% of the vote Phelps ran for mayor of Topeka in 1993 and 1997."

What do you think about that?

So you can't draw conclusions about a political party based on one nutjob - but you are perfectly happy to draw conclusions about an entire religion based on the very same nutjob?? HmMmmm....

Not particularly.

I suspect if he were a Republican it would have been widely reported, though.

Don't confuse the Westboro Church with a Church.

Not that I am a supporter of the Democratic Party, but I do support the TRUTH.

I commend all Americans who are trying to learn more about the candidates before the 2008 election. In my opinion, a uniformed voter is down right dangerous. I am supporting the Republican Ticket for their stance on Foreign Policy. I do not believe that the ticket will lead with Rudy, Mitt or Ron Paul and this is why….

Strike Rudy - He is responsible for nixing the Line Item Veto, pro-abortion, he spends too much! Check his record!

Strike Mitt - He is trying to sell us on the fact that he is Ronald Reagan's Clone which is so not-true. Blames his MA record on him having to work in a Liberal State, He is a FRAUD and McCain called him on it in the 10/21/07 debate!

Strike Ron Paul – He is not savvy on Foreign Policy.

The following website will provide you with party information, candidate detailed information as well as voting records, public statements and pretty much anything you need to help YOU decide!

It will also show you information about the State Primary Dates, How the Primary Process works, Electoral College, and other internet resources.

No, not really. Dems are a big tent party.

"During the 1992 presidential campaign, Phelps protested Hillary Clinton during a campaign speech in support of the Clinton-Gore ticket at the University of Kansas on October 14, 1992. In Bill Clinton's second presidential campaign, Phelps and the Westboro church also opposed Clinton and Gore because of the administration's support for gay rights. The entire Westboro congregation picketed a 1997 inaugural ball[44], denouncing Gore as a "famous fag pimp."[45] In 1998, Westboro picketed the funeral of Gore's father, screaming vulgarities at Gore and telling him, "your dad's in Hell."

Really?

Really nothing. I am just ashamed that he is a conservative. I am a conservative but I despise conservatives like him.

If you are trying to imply that because he has ran in Democratic primaries and therefore he is some kind of liberal or he is an example of the ideals of the Democratic Party... well, I think you are just taking advantage of a fringe element trying to hijack the political party system (like David Duke being a Republican). I actually sympathize with the political commitees over people like this... I don't attack them and laugh and say "SEE!!!!! I TOLD YOU THAT DEMS (REPS) ARE EVIL!!!! SEE!!!" Anyone who has the money should be allowed to compete in any primary they want to be in... that is what a free political system is about.

I thought when I read the news stories about his picketing funeral services for soldiers that it didn't sound even remotely like any of the fundamentalist churches I knew. This explains a lot.

Now you are pointing out one persons actions and associating with a party as a whole.....

You know that is the democrats job!! They don't want you insinuating that all Dem's are that way....

but they sure want you to believe all Christians are.....can we say hypocrite?

Any way, the man is a nut....a menace...and the entire congregation are lunatics....and I truly feel they are dangerous...

Thank God they are the exception to "Christianity"....by no means the norm!

not a huge surprise, he is a former ACLU lawyer after all.

Personally the man makes me sick. Actually that is interesting because he is claiming he has no money to pay his fines but he can afford to travel all over the country and can afford to run for office. I think it is about time some one audited his books with a fine tooth comb and make sure he really has "No money" ever again.

i knew it! i knew it!

if he were a republican they would have splashed it all over the networks! it would have mad the front page of the NY Times and Seattle Post Intelligencer would have reveled in it! *lol*

and you are most certainly right... the left can and does make all sorts of assumtions based on nothing... but when one of their own makes a jack-***...(ptp).. out of themselves ... we won't even hear the political affiliation!

No, I didn't know that. That's interesting....

I would break his face and burn down the building they want to call a "church" if he did what he did to my family. That would be worth going to jail over.

I think it's pretty low to try to tie Phelps to the Democratic party when you know full well neither side wants the guy. I'm sure most Democrats fully embrace his views on Matthew Shephard, homosexual rights and picketing military funerals.
*rolls eyes*
