“We are in Iraq today because our goal has always been more than the removal of a brutal dictator. It is to leave a free and democratic Iraq in his place.” George W. Bush

"Iraq was a threat to the US. That's why we invaded. Iraq has not yet surrendered to us. That's why we're still at war and fighting. Our mission in Iraq should not be nation building. It should be destruction of our enemies to the point where they agree to fight no more. Please, Mr. President. Destroy them."

Our own goverment is the enemy. As for leaving Iraq a free society, I doubt that is the real reason Bush wanted us to invade.

As for the real foreign enemies, it seems we are not fighting them. North Korea, Iran, China and Russia are nations that were historically our enemies, are our enemies or are entering tense relations with the US. Nations that pose no threat are the ones the US pushes around and invades for profit for the military industry corporations complex's profits (US goverment starts war, the corporations make money by selling weapons and service to the military and get taxpayer's money through such services. Its all a dangerous con game for the public and troops). The real enemies we leave alone for the goverment nor the public got the guts for a REAL war (North Korea.) or those people have us cornered some how. China has bought up a massive source of US treasury bonds and if we do not dance to their tune, they will cash them in and economic crisis will be the result in the US and we rely on them for almost everything in our markets. Iran got us cornered by allying itself with Russia and China and various other partners and Bush and our out of touch with reality politicians seem to add more hostile nations to the list with their arrogance, and lack of diplomacy and common sense and concern with the future of our nation.

Iraq was never OUR real enemy. We went to war against Iraq (Bush 41) because Sadam had invaded Kuwait and we needed to protect our oil interests there.

As far as our invading Iraq (Bush 43), it was first about WMD, then it was about Sadam, then liberating the people, then building a democracy now it's fighting al Qaida "over there" as opposed to fighting them here.

Of course we should leave Iraq and President Hillary Clinton will begin the process in January 2009.

Yes, I believe Iraq and her Islamic sisters are our enemy. The Islamic radicals fighting in Iraq are of the same kind that killed 3,000 Americans in the Twin Towers and Pentagon.

Do not be blind to what the democrats spew in hatred toward the republicans. In reality they don't plan to stop this war either because they can't stop it. Iran and Syria both want war with America. They support Al Queda, Hamas, and Hezbollah so the terrorists can instill fear. They want all the world to convert to Islam for their Mahdi who is coming.

Edit: To anwser the poster's question, Iraq is not our real enemy.

I think the real enemy lies within. Why do you think there was a massive war that went on in this country. It was just us fighting each other not foreigners. The whole Civil War showed how stupid our country really is and even to today we still haven't remembered the lesons learned from that war.

Iraq itself is not our enemy, Saddam was (though I do not agree with his hanging) and now the terrorists that have entered the country to take advantage of them are our enemies. They are the ones killing hundreds of Iraqis per week NOT Americans. We should have more troops in Afghanistan though.
I dont speak for anyone but me but I think the first duty of a free people is to spread freedom regardless of personal sacrifice- thats me, if I have a right to be free, everyone has that right and most dont have the ability to secure it themselves- Again I speak for me not a political party or group.

Our real enemies are the liberal Democrats. Iraq, Iran, OBL..all pose a high degree of threat. But, none of those are within our own borders. Libs are basically sleeper cells that need to be dealt with from a political standpoint.

We are not fighting Iraq, we are fighting Al Queda in Iraq. There is a difference. Iran is more of a problem at the moment though.
