The "most knowledgeable" go for the easiest so they become/remain the best. The "least knowledgeable" try to improve themselves with a challenge and to be the most help not caring about points.

Perhaps most knowledgeable people did their own homework. The 'hard' questions are often numerical solutions to assigned homework. The 'easy' questions often require more insight into a problem than a numerical solution and knowledgeable people understand how things work.
