I feel that the the baseball players today are ruining baseball as America's Pastime. They go on strike and refuse contracts to get more money, in the millions. But they're getting paid to play baseball, isn't that most people's dreams when they were younger? I would play baseball if I got paid 30,000 a year because I could live off of it, so why do the players today need millions? And the only reason players are becoming better is most likely because of steroid use! Is anyone else sick of this? I think teams should just stop dealing with these people and find new players who are greatful for doing what they love.

It's in bad condition.

Most of the players are arrogant ba$tards. They get paid MILLIONS, get fame, a good workout, and a couple months vacation, yet they still go on strike demanding more. WTF?

Second, steroids obviously. I think the league has cracked down, of course only after Congress got involved. I think stats were messed up and many games and teams and everything has been screwed up for the past 10 yrs. It has become a soap opera. It is a joke. Bonds is an a$shole, along w/Mark McGuire and Sosa. They didn't break any records. They should be banned.

Many beautiful parks are being destroyed for "newer and bigger" ones. Baseball has become PC as well. In Milwaukee, WS, the famed "sausage races" have added another sausage. The chorizo. Obviously to satisfy the Mexicans. That makes me sick.

And Bud Selig is an idiot.

I haven't watched baseball in awhile anymore. I only get a glimpse of the World Series. I don't watch bball much because of all the corruption. I can't even remember the last time I went to a game. I can't stand the game. It has been ruined.

There are a few players I like though. Kurt Schilling, Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, etc. A few good ones are still left.

The last strike was 13 years ago -- were you shaving yet? -- and you clearly have demonstrated you do not understand what that one was about.

Baseball earns a LOT of money. I don't really care if it goes to the players or the owners, but when I attend a game I'm there to watch the players play, as it is not very interesting watching the owner own. So if the players are pulling down a fat share of the cash, fine by me; no owner has gone bankrupt recently, so they're making out just fine, believe it.

And it's not merely that they play baseball -- the money rolls in because these men play the BEST baseball in the world. People enjoy watching this. No one ponies up money to check out the local Little League or tee-ball games.

Go have a cookie.

first off wouldnt you get more money in your job if you could,, second off if they went out and got players who would play for peanuts would you watch when you know that the best players arent playing,, as much as i am not an a-rod fan who would you rather see up at the plate a single a player in the world series,, i think not.. why shouldnt they get paid what they can,, and steroids well people are so quick to put a label on certain players and say they are ruining the game,,, the fact is like it or not almost every player has used them at one point or another n their career so it is a level playing ground,, hell yes i want to see monsterous homeruns or 105 mph fastballs..what would baseball be without bonds,a-rod,ortiz,howard, right now , i am serious what would baseball be without babe ruth(no i dont think ruth used steroids) but no doubt he is the i-con of baseball and why do we idolize and remember him,,,,, the home run!!!!!! and before the homerun filled so called steroid era baseball was dying out to basketball and football. another fact is steroids and more homeruns (mcguire and sosa chase) saved baseball followed by bonds incredible seasons.so ruining baseball. no lets not be ignorant, steroids saved baseball.

The players want what they feel they deserve. If owners are willing to pay it, then they want the money. Also, look at all those tv deals each year. They get money from that, also. I love baseball and I know they are paid too well. I don't see that there is much as individuals we can do.

If you were good enough to play in the majors, and they were paying you 30,000, I'm pretty sure you'd want more when you saw other players making 15-20 million.

Everyone wants to get fair market value, in any profession.

If you want to blame anyone, blame the owners for paying players that much - or better yet, fans for buying tickets and merchandise and paying their salaries.

I agree with you about the strikes and the contracts.. they are highly paid to play a kids game, and should be playing for the fans, they never think about how it affects the fans and the game when they strike..

but its still a way better game to watch than basketball..

Let's just say, as far as baseball goes, I'd rather be living in the 50's.
