It's just the Bush administration that's evil. The US government is our government and it is just fine. Ballots (assuming fair elections) not bullets.

I believe the Bush administration is evil. I'm not at all concerned about the incoming govt..
Nice try, but no hand gun is going to protect you from the govt if they really want you. When was the last time someone fought off the police with their own guns? They always lose so your point is irrelevant......as usual.

You can believe the government is evil which I don't think all liberals believe and still think wide spread gun ownership makes a society less safe, also something not all liberals believe BTW.
If your government is evil enough guns aren't gonna help you. Iraq has a strong tradition of gun ownership. You think that ever helped anyone on Saddam's black list? You can argue if guns make a society more or less safe but the idea a citizen can protect himself from government oppression because he has a gun is simplistic, wrong and laughable.
Typical right wing rhetoric that doesn't work in reality

I'm a liberal...and I own lot's of guns.
Not all liberals are against gun ownership. The majority are just for better control over who can get them....a better tracking of who has them.
Example... I own a gun, I get tired of it and I want to sell it.... so I go to the gun show and sell it to someone... Since i'm not a dealer I'm not required to do a background check and person to person sales have no waiting period... I might be selling my gun to a psychotic criminal !...how would I know ?
By the way I just sold my 9mm keltec rifle last week at a local gun show.... which is why i'm giving this example.

Whoever said this?... I know many liberals that have guns (I guess I need to call them and tell them that a guy with a monkey avatar told them what they think before they even think it themselves). As a matter of fact, I don't even think anyone is talking about gun control these days.
Where are you from? What a bizarre and irrelevant question.
I suppose that some people would want stricter gun laws but that doesn't mean that they are "anti-gun". I certainly know a few policemen that want more regulations on guns and they aren't liberal. I think this issue is too complicated that you are presenting it as.

One of my best friends was a pot-smoking, peace-loving, long-haired, hippie that went deer hunting every year and owned lots of guns and hated Republicans.
It didn't make sense to me either but all Liberals and Conservatives are not so stereotypical as most people would have you believe.

There is a little seeming contradiction in the typical liberal position, which at once is big on 'questioning authority,' including the government, and also down on private ownership of weapons (among other rights), and supportive of socialist programs that place the economy under government control.
The resolution of this contradiction lies in /who/ is the government. Liberals are willing to trust a liberal government. Though they distrust authority as it exists, they do believe that a perfect system could be created that would hold a great deal of authority (particularly in economic areas), yet be benevolent and uncorruptible. And that, of course, such a system could only be devised and run by liberals like themselves.

Why are "most" conservative questions so absurd?
The "liberals" as is conservatives are fed up with the govt wasting and squandering their tax dollars by pandering to lobbyist and PAC's and not to "the people".
Yes "liberals" want guns out of the hands of criminals. Liberals are not against "LEGAL" firearms, owned by law abiding citizens.
UH DUH. I believe the "Brady Bill" is named from a conservative who was shot in the head by a man trying to assassinate President Reagan.

Huh?
I don't think the entire government is evil, just the current thugs in the White House.
I don't see how people slaughtering each other by the millions would help.
