Try Ring....it did scare me

Try some relatively old horror, such as The original Howling, Friday the 13th part 1, Salem's Lot (I'm actually getting ready to watch that one for the first time tonight), The Exorcist, The Fog (the original, not the re-make). Also, I'm not sure how old you are, but if you can, choose horror movies that are Rated R rather than PG13, because '13 rated movies have to have things cut out of them in order to get the lowered rating. There are EXTREMELY few PG13 horror movies I've seen that I've actually liked.

Actually, movies don't scare me that much. Some are more suspenseful than others, but I haven't been frightened by one for a long time. Of course, I'm older than a lot of people at Y!A, and I've watched thousands of movies throughout my life.

I just finished watching a particularly eerie and well-done horror film titled "Chronicle of the Raven" (2004), starring Faye Dunaway and Gina Phillips ("Jeepers Creepers"). It's not overly graphic and chooses atmosphere and suspense to build the story. You might try that one.

"Jeepers Creepers" had both my mother and I on the edges of our seats, as they say, even though our first viewing was on network TV. When I saw it uncut, I was even more impressed. The sequel is more gruesome, but it continues the story smoothly, and there are lots of shock moments.

Have you watched "The Haunting" (1963)? It's a classic of horror, the peak of ghostly films. I watched it several times in October and can guarantee that several places still give me the chills! Since I've seen this film easily more than 100 times, that's saying something for it.

This one is rather gruesome at times, but it's heartbreakingly inevitable that everyone will suffer: "Pet Sematary". The film brings the Stephen King novel to life in a powerful way, with solid performances by Dale Midkiff, Denise Crosby and Fred Gwynne. I don't recommend the sequel, but the original still is powerful. I watched it a few nights ago, and I have to admit that I chickened out at the last. It gets far too powerful to handle~at least that night it was.

Other worthwhile films are:
Premonition (Japanese 2004)
Ju-on (The Grudge) (original)
Phantasm 1-4
The Fly (remake)
Campfire Tales
Carnival of Souls (original)k
Night of the Living Dead (original)~I don't like "zomboid" movies, those warped versions of zombies who feed on the living, but this one has incredibly creepy and even grisly moments. The rest just rehash the same ol' same ol'. The only exception I've seen to this are two films.
1) Resident Evil: Apocalypse
2) Return of the Living Dead III (NOTE: Mindy aka Miranda Clarke, who plays the girl zombie, is Lady Heather on "CSI: Las Vegas"!)

By the way: Movie series such as "Hostel" and "Saw" are grossouts. They repulse people, and revulsion isn't the same as a scare to me; they're just nasty,m people-hating, body-mutilating movies. They've been dubbed "horror porn". I'll stick with older-style horror movies.

I really enjoyed the ORIGINAL Black Christmas. Billy was really twisted, but never really shown, the phone calls were freakin' creepy. It had it's funny moments too, most have very strong Canadian accents too, so as someone a little south of the Canadian border (I live in Minnesota) that was fun too. I love horror movies, but most don't scare me, this one came the closest in the last couple of years.

If you can sit all the way through Crawlspace, with Klaus Kinsky, you've got tougher nerves than most...

and it isn't even really a horror film.
