You seriously never heard of Shakespeare? He is, in my opinion, THE most famous writer. He's especially known for Romeo and Juliet.

That's actually not as easy a question as it initially sounds, because it's so broad, you need to decide how you're going to approach it. It is in the form of 2 questions, so look at each separately and plan an answer for each.
Who is Shakespeare? Well, obviously that isn't too hard to talk about. Do a bit of research on the net about when he lived, when he wrote his plays, what kind of background he had. He isn't just a long-dead guy who wrote some plays, his name is an internationally known phenomenon.
Why is he so famous? What was so good about his plays? Firstly, the plots. He did tragedy as well as comedy and also love stories. His plays were pretty cutting-edge brave stuff in his day and age. His use of language and poetry was very evocative, eloquent and dramatic. Few other plays have such well-known soliloquies (may have spelt that wrong - but where a lead character talks on his own to the audience, and the audience gets to hear the thoughts going on inside his head). I suggest you pick maybe 3 different plays that are very different, ie one tragedy, one love story, one comedy, and then talk about how Shakespeare was such a skilled diverse writer. You can't talk about too many different plays or it will just get way too complicated. You could even just concentrate on one play and then talk about it in more detail and use quotes to show examples of how good his writing was.
Okay, I'm knackered and out of ideas now! Good luck!

Who is Shakespeare - well, several other people have cut and pasted the known facts of his life from various sources on the net and like they say, there is much much more available,
However, apart from the canon of his works, we don't actually know much about the real person who was Shakespeare and in fact many scholars argue about just how much of his work was actually written by him.
Original manuscripts are long gone and the Elizabethan Age in drama was notable for many collaborative efforts so it is quite possible that bits of what we call Shakespeare may have been written by other people or improvised by his actors. The authority for most of the texts comes from the first Folio edition of 1623 (from memory, better check that date out) by John Heminge and Henry Condell, who were two of his actors who basically set the plays up in type from scripts they presumably had in their possession.
Why is he so famous. Good question, actually. I think the true answer is because so many people, starting with the Victorians, have idolised Shakespeare's work that it has become almost blasphemy to say that some of it isn't that brilliant (Titus Andronicus for instance) In his best work however there is no doubt that Shakespeare is streets ahead in terms of subtlety of the other dramatists of his time who were turning out crude revenge tragedies, unfunny comedies and historical pot boilers. There is now a vast Shakespeare industry, which is of course self-sustaining, and IMHO it would be quite good if people could get back to the basics of Shakespeare rather than heaping abstruse theories on him.
In short, Shakespeare, like many modern celebs, is now famous just for being famous, which tends to obscure the appreciation of his good bits, rather than enhancing it, for me.

William Shakespeare (baptised 26 April 1564 – 23 April 1616)[a] was an English poet and playwright, now widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's preeminent dramatist.[1][2]
His surviving works consist of 38 plays,[b] 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright

There are SO many sites on the net devoted to Shakespeare that you shouldn't have any trouble answering your own question. Just Google Shakespeare and see what you come up with - it will be more than you possibly use.
