How many folks out there remember the 'good old days' when there was always a bag boy to carry out your groceries for you? Or you could bring your car to the front and the boy would be there to load them for you ?? If you still have this service, consider yourself blessed !!!

Most places today will only do this if you request it. But, we did have it in ORegon before we moved to Arizona and it was really nice. Tho often we declined the offer as we could easily get our own bags out. BUt many cant, and they shouldnt have to ask. THis service should be provided, and then the person accept or decline it accordingly.
Great memories, and great question. Things cost so much more todya, yet there is less service given. Its hard at times, as sometimes they wont even make eye contact on you when they wait on you or they are rude and indifferent, and not at all helpful. But then again, I talk to friends who works in jobs like that and they tell me its very two sided. I guess it is the times in which we live. But if we remember to be kind to everyone, maybe we can bring some KINDNESS back.
God bless you.

Hey, I remember those days along with getting your windshield cleaned and filling your car with gas.

Where I grocery shop there is always someone who offers to help carry groceries out to the car. It depends on how tired I am at the time if I take them up on their offer. Of course I tip them.

If I could get them to deliver my groceries up 3 flights of concrete stairs you bet I'd pay for this service:)

I'm sorry you are handicapped. If you talked to the manager I'm sure they would have someone to help you. If not I would shop elsewhere.

I remember this. There is a store in a small town about 30 miles from here that does that!! The store is independant, and does a LOT of business. We used to tell the grocery boys which car, and give them the keys to put the groceries in for us, even across the parking lot.

I don't shop where I DON'T get my groceries bagged! The always ask "Paper or Plastic"!

The only place they do not bag ANYONE is at Sam's. It is up to you to bring a bag , but I think they WOULD put your stuff into them if I had one!

They almost ALWAYS offer to take out my groceries. I usually and always say, No, as I don't have anyone at home to do the reverse! ha.

I still have the bag boy carry the groceries to my car, and I take it for granted.

I used to be one of those "bag boys" and made a whopping $.50 per hour and more than twice that in tips. Gas was .17 per gallon, I had a car and a girl friend and life was large!

One of the smaller grocery stores near my house still do that. It is very nice. The bigger ones don't help you out at all anymore!! But the fact that you can bring your cart out to your car at most of them is helpful.
