Good God, I can't believe we are now debating if it's OKAY to torture prisoners. I'm a conservative republican and I am 100% outraged. I grew up in a country that told us to be proud of the fact we don't torture other human beings as other countries do!.

I just saw a demostration of "waterboarding"..if you think this is okay in your judgement...you are one sick person!!

YES, our enemies are horrible, terrible brutal murder's...but we have to be better than them...why would we lower our standards so much.

What are your thoughts?

The really, really, really (did I say really?) dumb thing about torture is....

IT DOES NOT WORK!

And on top of that, if we torture prisoners, we condemn our capture people to be tortured.

Torture is really more about revenge than gathering information.

Torture away...you're pretty naive if you think there is a country out there that does not torture enemies to find out information.

...and to the guy above that says Bush is a tyrant...Like Clinton and any of the other presidents before him haven't known about or even looked the other way!

Torture has been around since the beginning of man! Wake up and stop watching reality tv people.

News flash for those who aren't knowledgable to the ways of war. Canada and the USA devised and used some of the most effective interrogation methods ( Torture ) in the world. During WW1, WW2, and Korea.

Of course in todays world of human rights, and political correctness. A good fart in the enclosed cell can be viewed as torture by some lol.

Tell me, you must a kid,
we didn't just start doing any thing unless you were standing right there?
People have been torturing other people in our society for hundreds of years, every one is only hearing about them now thanks to the technology's of tomorrows. Just go out side and ask a minority person about they're ethnic history in the U.S.
you think slaves were slaves by choice, or that servants in prominent house hold could do what they wanted until it was time for them to leave. Even children who are locked in little cages or closets or bedrooms and not allowed to come out not to eat or bathroom breaks, men and women are not exempt from this kind of treatment.
I am sorry to tell you this, but that is the way it is, we can't stop it unless some one is able to tell us about it, unfortunately hundreds of these types of cases will never come to lite, and the really sad thing,,,,,is that some one all ways dies....
You made me sad now telling you about this stuff, but its okay if it helps you to understand that we didn't just start torturing people.

History will record that the 5-7 years after 9/11 saw the US hugely overreact to the threat, and there will be comparisons to the Japanese internment camps during WW2.

It's all about what is important to you. Is the safety of American citizens more important than the well being of the person intending them harm? That's like asking if it's appropriate to defend yourself with lethal force if you believe that your life is in immediate danger....or is it?

In general torture is wrong. In immediate danger, I could personally do some very mean things to protect the people I hold as important to me. I am not in that position, but I could be...couldn't you??

America does not torture prisoners of war.

If you don't like the way enemy POWs are treated, remember, they would behead you just because you are American. They would strap on a bomb and walk into Wal Mart just to kill whoever is shopping today.

They act as something less than animals, don't deserve any humane treatment.

Those prisoners represent the evildoers that wish you and other Americans DEAD and America destroyed.

What effective, yet humane method, do you suggest we use to elicit the necessary info from those brutal killers about their plans to plot OUR demise?
