There is no need to lie to your parents and teachers about your misplaced book. I can assure you that they won't be too excited about your losing it, but it's better to just tell them what happened than to make up a story about where the book may be. Take some time this weekend and search your home for the book. Ask family members to help look too. Chances are, you'll find it over the weekend. If the book doesn't turn up, calmly explain to your teacher on Monday morning about your situation. Perhaps he or she can let you borrow an extra book during class and help you get the forms for replacing the school's lost book.

Your first sentence is BEST answer. Your Truth makes you uncomfortable for short while. So what? Tell yourself, "I can do this" A lie will linger around to HURT you much longer, because it eats away at your core likke a cancer, Be Brave,Face up to it, and Feel like you can handle it, accept whatever recrimination that comes at you. Once you remove the WORRY over it,you will likely relax enough to walk straight to that book--if it's in the house. Look underneath your bed.GOOD Luck on staying TRUE to yourself. Who ever you expect to give you a hard time--is relatively short lived--But, your Integrity and good character must last you for a lifetiime. You do not need a Lie. You need to accept fact you CAN be strong, you CAN handle short term discomfort at hearing stuff that stings like a vaccination. You can't handle being labled as a LIAR! Neither can I.

How about: "I seem to have misplaced my science book. Can I buy a new one and then get my money back when I find my old one?"
