It's probably because this is generally a job field that doesn't pay too well unless you manage to make it to the top. I also believe it's because women are more likely to choose jobs that they love even if the pay isn't all that great and men are more interested in how much they can make even if they choose jobs they don't like.

good question working in the media for the past 8 years leads me to bleive that more humans would reather see a female on the screen then a man!
