Wool! Wool will definetly keep you warmer than cotton or polyester

so many wrong answers! WOOL is the best all around, it wicks moisture away from the skin and keeps you warm "or cool". Polyester is great for under garments because it also wicks moisture away from the skin and retains body heat.. Cotton traps moisture and breaths "this causes icy feet" I know cotton is the most comfy but strictly not for any extreme condition.

wool is my number 1 choice, cotton number two. And probably cashmere next. Polyester not so much. it does not breath and the reason you get cold is that their is no air movement. either your sweat leaving the body or the air coming in.

Merino wool is my fave. Most of my warm socks for the winter are wool.

Depends on what you are doing. If you are just walking or want to stay warm, definitely wool. If you are exercising outside, you will want the nylon/polyester clothes because it will keep the sweat away. Stay away from cotton though. That will not keep you as warm as the others.

Polyester lets cold in, no matter what girls say of how cozy it is. Because it may be cozy, but it doesnt keep you warm. And Cotton is great for the summer, but for the winter, you need wool for sure!

Good Luck!

no doubt! wool! cotton and polyester let the wind blow right through them and barely keep you warm at all..wool may be itchy but its definetly the warmest!

Defenetly wool. I heard that wool keeps warm at winter and cool at summer and you are not sweat all the time.

i wear wool socks a lot but always put cotton in between you and the wool, cotton will pull moisture (sweat) away from your skin and protect from the itcys. but wool is the warmest. think about it: animals stay outside year round and seldom freeze so it makes sense that their byproducts would be warmest.
