Congratulations on turning vegetarian! You are now on the right path to good health.... Here is a sure-shot home treatment that stops your menstrual pain immediately. You need beetal leaves for this. Take 2 beetal leaves and add 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt on the middle and fold it up like a paan and chew it slowly. Chew till your saliva mixes well with it and gradually, very gradually, swallow only the juicy part, while still chewing the leaves. Don't drink anything or eat anything after this for about 15 min...your menstrual cramps should stop in about 5 mins...Repeat it after 10 mins, until pain stops. It almost always stops the first time :) Beetal leaves are also called as 'paan'. I am not sure if you get it in Canada, but maybe you can try an Indian store. There is another way out for this...Something more on the preventive side. Try to ensure you do not suffer from constipation around the days you expect your period (I have found that the pain is due to presence of gas in the stomach/intestine). Or if you are constipated, try to take enema (always in empty stomach) till you flush your system completely. A non-violent enema is best. You can do this soon after your period begins...I can mail you the details if you are interested. Good luck and take care!

HYDRATION. I have had issues with severe menstrual cramps but I find that I am drinking lots of water I have virtually no cramps at all. I am convinced that hydration is the key, if I am not well hydrated and I start my period, I do cramp. After an hour or so of good water drinking--no more cramps. I don't like to drink water so much but I found that the benefits of no cramps is SO worth it. By the way, the whole 6-8 glasses a day is a farce as far as I am concerned. I drink a lot more than that for my maximum energy levels and no pain during periods. Hope this helps, Good Luck!

A heating pad on your abdomen will help a lot.
You can also try aromatherapy. Geranium, Cypress, Clary Sage, Lavender, and Rose blended in a carrier oil or cream of your choice. I like jojoba oil. Not only will that help with your cramps, but all other menstrual and"woman related" issues and feelings. It's a great feminine hormonal balancer.
Good luck!

If you go to a natural food store you can get vitamins that you have to take everyday, but they really work. Red Raspberry leaves are the main constituant of the vitamin and again it will be all natural ingredients no chemicals if it is from a natural food store. You can also get a red raspberry hot tea that will also help. You could stand on your head for a few minutes when it hurts and it should also help a little. Be careful though standing on your head will make you dizzy move slowly when getting back upright. Good luck!

drink hot water with cayenne pepper in it. Right before you know your menses is about to come on make sure your system is cleaned out and if you don't exercise, starting would help cut the cramping down a lot.

the exersize that works the best for me are ones like the cruch machine at my gym where your body bends as much as you can in the middle then pulls out straight. I guess it stretches those muscles. That and no caffine (but I'm sure you don't have a problem with that)

Excersise really helps. Going for a walk, working out, swimming, riding a bike. Whatever it is it will help.
You can also get these heat things that you put in the microwave and you can put it on your stomach or wherever it hurts.
Good luck and hope you feel better!

Viburnum , mother tincture three drops in the morning ,three in afternoon and three in evening is the most effective preventive and curative remedy of dysmenorrhoea in homeopathy.
In allopathy it was sold as GYNOSEDAN syrup. We found it very useful.
