A-Rod is better than Jeter at SS. But Jeter is a better team leader and could not be moved.
He is a SS and that is his natural position. He was a golden glover at SS at 3b he was mediocre.
But no... Boston would never take A-Rod. Too much hate for him in Beantown.

Boston does Not need A-Rod to come over because they have won 2 tittles without him and are going to be there next year as well. The Yankee fans are so screwed up right now because they had the team they thought could take them to the top with their A-Rod's and Jeter's and Abreu and Jiambi and so on and so on the list never ends, but they have failed year after year. Everybody knows that A-Rod is the best player in the game but Boston has a real good chemistry and A-Rod seems to be in team conflict everywhere he goes. I am a true ball fan and would love to see the Sox with A-Rod talent but am not willing to risk what the Sox have right now.
God bless RED SOX NATION and it is so sweet seeing Yanks in trouble, Girardi...............hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's the best player in baseball. He can easily move back to short as he moved to third when he was traded to the Yankees. If Boston was to sign A-Rod, it would be wise to dump Lugo and try and keep Lowell. My prediction before the end of the season was he would end up at 3rd with the Angels. Chone Figgins can be move anywhere and they should keep Orlando Cabrera.

I totally agree..i forgot about that for a second..They should get rid of Lugo he cant hit a beach ball, and put a-rod a SS...great idea..BUT it would never work the box already have to deal with Manny's crap i don't think it would be a good thing for Boston as a team...

He is not a SS anymore. He has put on some weight, and there is no way that he has the range anymore.
Also, why would the Red Sox want him? They just won the world series without him. They are a team that comes up big in the post season, which doesn't fit him at all.
If the Bosox want to make a real splash, shop some of their young pitching for Miguel Cabrera. At least, that guy has a ring.

The discussions I've seen have focused on both third and shortstop roles for him. I suspect they're focusing on third base because he hasn't regularly played shortstop since '03 and he probably doesn't have the skills he once did at the position.

well, he switched positions and is now used to 3B, so you dont like to switch people, plus as you get older you lose some range, so they figure the older an athlete gets, you dont want them at a position htat needs max range like SS or CF...those are the 2 big ones, so they figure you will get better defense out of him at 3B although I dont think you have to worry about A-Rod losing range for a few more years, like mid to uper 30's cause he is in such good shape. hope Yanks get him back! Cashman is an asshole if he doesnt do more to get him back in pinstripes!

Good question...but he's not a SS anymore. He hasn't played it in four years. It's a tougher position and his body isn't used to the work. He's probably a little slower and since he hasn't done the work, he might not be able to.
But, he is Alex Rodriguez and has amazed me many times before. So, I don't know...It would be a challenge for him.

I'd rather see AROD and his 50 homers play SS than 3B so my team can go out and sign another power bat at 3B.
He only played 3B at NYY because Jeter can't play 3B. He's a better SS than Derek Jeter TBH.
