I am not saying that intelligent people always have keen senses of humor...as I have known MANY very intelligent people with absolutely NO sense of humor. But often it seems if a person has a quick wit or very good sense of humor they are intelligent too. Maybe I'm being too general here. What do you think?

I think that's true. Although as you abserve intelligence is not an indicator of comedic sense, humorous people in my experience are always very intelligent. It takes a lot of intelligence to be funny. Just watch last comic standing, and ask yourself why you are laughing.

Funny people are also keen observers of the world around them, which is also a charcteristic of intelligent people.

Thanks for the inciteful question!

Well, 'quick' and 'keen' are almost synonyms for intelligent, aren't they?

Someone who's mind is quick is, uh, quick, AKA intelligent.

Someone with a keen sense of human has a keen mind.

Someone who's slow is, uh, slow; their humor won't be quick.

IMHO, having a quick wit indicates that you are very secure and calm, and therefor able to access and use your intelligence more effectively than the person who is uptight, or otherwise afraid of something.

Hi Smoochy Well, I don't see any other David Bowie questions so you go right ahead. At the moment my favourite David Bowie song is Speed Of Life, very cool song.

There are several kinds of intelligence - and in thoses kinds several components - and also several levels -

Humour can sometimes turn to stupidity - and laugh for laugh which is so typîcally british for instance can become really dull - if you can tell me where the intelligence is in those cases.....

Oh and I forgot : who can say he is universally funny ???

Well seeing how I have those qualities and have far superior intelligence to most, I would have to say you are correct in your thinking.
