The issues is not weather you dislike watching the news (and by the way your question should be "Who DISLIKES watching the news") But is it necessary and the answer is yes. We can can close our eyes to the harsh reality around us but we then do ourselves a disservice and inform citizen is a citizen who deserves their freedoms. Give up watching the news and you might as well give up your freedoms
As to the person who said they do not "Allow it" in their home, that reeks of fascism how do you control what adults in your home watch?

The news and newspapers are so full of gloom and doom I can't be bothered with it. I watch the first 10-15 minutes of the local news at 11pm where I live just to see what's going on in town and then I call it a night and crawl in bed and read. I sometimes take a quick flip or two past CNN during the day just to see if anything 'big' is happening.

I hate the news- They need to start highlighting some of the good things people are doing in this world
I am tired hearing War Rape Killing, I would like to hear how the younger people are helping out to make this world better.
How everyone is starting to get along with each other and the fighting have stopped
These are news not that other stuff those are garbage

I have absolutely no respect left for the mass media. They practically manufacture stories, what with the way they selectively focus on whatever details will play on the audience's emotions in order to draw in viewers/readers rather than actually stating the facts. It's why, despite being a Writing major, I refuse to go into journalism. There's no integrity left.

I don't allow it in my house. I remember growing up hearing the music when the news was starting and even as a kid it bothered me. The news is slanted and stories are told to scare us. If you keep people afraid they will listen to their "leaders" better. I am not a sheep and I don't want my kids to be either. I take everything I see and read with a grain of salt. "There are two sides to every story and the truth can be found somewhere in the middle."
