I'm an expectant father, 24 years old. And I searched for names of my baby, still don't know if it'll be a boy or a girl. If it were a girl, I'd name her Phoenix Cheyenne (Phoenix =the bird that died in the fire, rose from the ashes, Cheyenne= just sounds nice and cute.). If it'd be a boy, I'd name him Xander Calix (Xander= God's warrior, Calix= Handsome). Tell me how you like em, I'll come up with more. Thanks a lot!

Those are all cool names. But I wouldn't use them all together. Remember that this will be your child's name for his/her whole life. Those are both a big mouthful.

Phoenix is an understandable sentiment (I've seen others actually consider it for it's meaning rather than simply because it sounds "cool" a few times recently LOL), but it is becoming quite an overused "unusual" name. In other words, every parent who wants something unique seems a somehow stumble upon this same exact name ... so not exactly unique. ;)
Given that, however, I was rather surprised to see the name of a Native American people that's recently become trendy tacked onto Phoenix simply because it "sounds nice and cute." To be quite honest, trendiness and overuse aside, that seems quite a random and even offensive method of baby naming. I mean, it's one thing to use an actual name you happen to think sounds "nice" or "cute," but quite another to jump on the random ethinicity bandwagon. I've said it before, but you wouldn't, I'd assume, name her Iroquois or Japanese simply based on how they sound. Would you? If you were Cheyenne, perhaps a meaningful nod to your heritage, but otherwise, just a horribly trendy choice not often well-thought-out, I'm afraid.
Xander and Calix, on the other hand, are far more intriguing options. Xander still tends to get lumped in with the dime-a-dozen Alex- names -- so I do prefer something like Xavier -- but still a valid choice. If meaning is an actual consideration, however (since you mentioned them), Calix is generally considered to literally be taken from the Latin "calix," meaning simply "wine cup." Nothing related to "handsome" that I'm familiar with. ;) http://www.behindthename.com/name/calix Pollux, meaning "very sweet," on the other hand, immediately came to mind. Perhaps something that would appeal?
You might find some more options along these lines here (the most accurate name site I'm aware of, since meanings seem to be important to you). http://www.behindthename.com/
Hope that helps. ;)

Wow I actually like them! I have to say that I usually nix the name Phoenix, but paired with Cheyenne it is actually quite nice. I really like the name Xander. You have done quite well! What does the mother of your child think?

Don't really like Xander...Have a friend named "Saunder" though..and that's a little similar. I really like the looks of "Saunder" instead of the harshness of the X. The girl's name is nice.

Those names sound very unique and strong. Almost too unique and strong, though. Maybe tone it down a little with an easier, more common middle name.
