Since when is this a trivia question? Looks more like a homework question to me.

1.50x + 2.50(200 - x) = 380

Solve for x and then subtract it from 200 to find the other amount sold.

Ok, so you've got the following 2 equations to work with:

$380 = $1.50X + $2.50Y

and

X + Y = 200

Change X into a quantity using Y.

X = 200-Y.

Now substitute that into the original equation for X.

$380 = 1.5(200-Y) + 2.5Y and solve.

$380 = 300 - 1.5Y + 2.5Y

$380 = 300 + Y

80 = Y
If Y = 80 and 200 souveniers were sold, then X = 200 - 80 or 120.

x = $1.50 souvenir
y = $2.50 souvenir

x + y = 200
1.5x + 2.5y = 380

Multiply equation 2 by 2 on both sides we get

3x + 5y = 760

rewrite number 1 as x = 200 - y

now substitute into number 2

3(200 - y) + 5y = 760 or

600 - 3y + 5y = 760 or

2y = 160 or

y = 80 now substitute into 1

x + 80 = 200 or

x = 120 now we check our math by subbing into 2

3(120) + 5(80) = 760 or

360 + 400 = 760 so

x = 120 and y = 80

1.5x + (200 - x)2.5 = 380
-x + 500 = 380, or x = 120
So 120 @$1.50
80 @$2.50

x times 1.5 plus y times 2.5=380
x+y=200
