I mean, fancy naming your town "Tabasco". Should other towns follow in this vain, Brighton, England, could become, "Encona hot pepper" for instance. Anybody got any other ideas? Thanks.

Tabasco sauce was named after the state in mexico.
I live near Waterford...but that wasn't named after the famous glass.
There is a village in Co. Waterford called Dunhill...and that wasn't named after the cigarettes.
There's also a village in Co. Limerick called Feckin...believe it or not !!.

Let's see. If a town gets recognition, more visitors who pay taxes, and maybe even a corporate sponsorship, then the citizens pay less taxes. I fail to see the flaw in this other than if it was named after a feminine Hygiene product. I am all for lower taxes though.

There is Hershey's in Pennsylvania ( Ref: The chocolate) LOL

And why not?
It makes the name of the place original and in a way it promotes the place where the product comes from.
