I have always found it ironic that f you seems worse to say (until you think about the words literally)...

They are equal when you think about it, but where I grew up, you would be safer to say damn. That other little nouget would get me in major trouble had I ever let IT slip out.

For sheer meaning, I would rather have someone say F.. you than Damn you. I do not want to spend eternity in hell.

I think "damn you" is saying to damn someone to hell. I don't like that.
