Hi!

Wikipedia has many examples of computers.

However, I can give you some clues. Nowadays PCs are called microcomputers, due to their relative small size. There are also minicomputers used for large industrial applications (such as IBM as400). The computers (really considered supercomputers) are also there, used for the most complex computing available. US Department of Energy has the most powerful computer (a really huge machine). As I said, all this info is available on Wikipedia.

Good luck!

Well you could look at the x86/amd64 based servers from Dell, HP, IBM, Apple (their Intel based systems), etc.... Other servers include UNIX based servers from companies like Sun, IBM, HP, SGI, etc.... You could look at mainframe systems from IBM or desktops from Apple (non-Intel based). Oh, more custom super computers from IBM, Cray, etc...

** Edit **
Sandy - Take a look at http://www.sun.com and you'll see Sun systems based on SPARC (RISC processors) and AMD (AMD64) based processors. Sun produces the Solaris Operating System (UNIX OS) for SPARC, AMD64, and x86 hardware. They also support running Linux and MS Windows on many of the hardware offerings. Generally you t find UNIX/Linux operating systems on server hardware more than desktops, but advances in the open source community are working to change that. Microsoft Windows still is the dominant desktop, but as large customers move away from MS, we'll see a shift to alternative operating systems.
