Today I decided to ask my best friend *kate who she fancied. She got a bit embarassed and said she didn't want to say, especially not to me. I was really curious by then so i kept pestering. She said the person was in our maths class. I suggested a few boys and she suddenly snapped: what makes you think its a boy?

I laughed nervously but carried on. But after a while I realised she meant it, she fancied a girl. I went through all the girls in our maths class, every single one apart from myself.
It sought of dawned on me then, and i realised she'd be hinting all day. She fancied me!
And she said it straight out this time: I fancy you. Then she re-called loads of incidents that i thought had been innocent like sleepovers, or hugs. I'm really confused. I love her to bits, shes my best mate. But i dont like her in that way. I don't know what to do! Turns out shes liked me for three years!! Please help

It may be a little awkward for awhile, but I don't see why you guys can't still be friends after awhile. Obviously if she has liked you for so long and never told you, she realizes that you're not into girls, so there is really no need to even have to let her down. Just take it a day at a time, and I think that things will get less awkward eventually. Things don't have to change just because she's a lesbian or bi, or what have you.

Let her know straight up that as much as you are friends and you care about her, You are straight!!! Let her know that the friendship will only remain if she doesn't make any advances at you. Just be honest with her. Let her know what you mean.

You tell her just that..."I love you to bits and your my best mate, but I don't like you in that way." Either she can get over it and you two can hold on to your friendship or she isn't going to be able to take it and will have to seperate herself from you.

It sounds like your friend is either bi or bi curious. If your not interested then simply tell her that you don't see her in the same light and that you just want to be friends. If she is a true friend, she will respect your decision.

Your friendship will never be the same, no matter what you decide..

You treat this the same as if it was a boy...
