No it bloody doesn't it is all overblown hype, the levels of suicides amongst teenagers and young adults has only risen at the same level as those of adults. I think that we are just under an awful lot more pressure to succeed these days and that has reflected in all age-groups. Yes the more reflective and thoughtful teenagers and young adults will be more drawn to the sounds and looks of so called emo music but I do not think that this genre encourages suicide.

you could equally argue that people who self harm are more liekly to listen to 'emo' music than others.

I listen to 'emo' music and death metal and i have never and prob won't ever self harm or take drugs or whatever else you want to throw at me...at the end of the day you can't just point to a music genre its more to do with the upbrining, divorce, or neglect ,harsh events that people have which cause them to self harm

of course you get those who do it for attention and they were just stupid to start with anyway

Suicide can be provoked by one brief and terrible moment or an overwhelming succession of terrible events; in the absence of a note, pinpointing a cause may be impossible.

depends on the listener. if i listened to it i very much doubt i'd be reaching for the razor blades, however, if someone who was already self harming, or teetering on the edge due to emotional issues i'd not be so sure it was helping.

Yes - I know of at least 2 people who have used a hacksaw to slice their ears off after hearing that painfully self-aware garbage.
